I have been a Robby fan for 15+ years. A good friend was Robby co-dog for several years. Robby is Robby, What don't you understand????
He has a beer budget compared to most teams, a very small team that works as hard or harder that most multi car teams, he can't complete as a single car team , he just does have the info , etc. big team have.. He's just lucky to be in the top 35. If you want a nascar racer that is competative find someone else. Robby give is heart and soul to his team, You can walk into his shop and he is wrenching on cars or TT at 11 pm whether he in North Carolina or California. I want him to be competative, to win but I just don't see it happening anytime soon as a single car team. Just my humble opinion.
I think everyone gets that, but personally my issue is the team seems to be moving backwards.
you guys keep cracking skulls.... RGM knows exactly what he is doing. Its not all about specar. its about building a global racing network. RGM is way ahead of the game while you posers give ideas on how to manage his nascar program. In truth Rob is lucky to be in nascar. He is a one car team and really the only one at that. Nascar gives him a platform! He is an American racer who is very unique. There is nothing like him any where in the world! it kills me to read some post of peepes who dont have a clue.....
Do you work for him Brad? He is unique that is for sure. It's probably the reason that a lot of people on here root for him. I'd just like to see him be a little more competitive - you know, have a chance for win, or even a top 10 run. I am very well aware of what he is up against. But you know last year he could have won Sonoma! This year he is not even close to even a decent finish. That is going the wrong way - he seems to be losing ground. Heck, if he is happy with that, then who am I to say anything about it. I don't know any racers that aren't competitive though so I doubt he likes it.

BRR
RGM knows exactly what he is doing

Alrighty then.
It would have been cool to have a gymnast doing a balance beam routine on the pipes when they were sticking out...
I call it blind faith and to some extent getting ahead of himself. Rob needs to take stock. Yes he has great talent in signing up sponsors, but with such debacles, those are going to start shrinking too. One car operation is challenging enough due to lack of data, but usually a crew/car designers can who are talented can offset it. Take example of Force India in F1. Another team of shoe string budget in F1 term, but an inspired team and designers running wheel to wheel with the big boys. His chemistry is all wrong at this point and good finishes will really be a fluke. We can all will him on like we always do, "Robby is Robby, he will figure it out", but sometimes a reality check would help get better finishes that just blind faith.
Robby enjoys the design and production side of racing as much if not more than the racing. He likes the WHOLE challenge. He is not one to let many outside people control anything at all. When something doesn't work he has no worries about looking in the mirror.

RG could have raced at RCR for at least 3 of the last four years but for some reason (taking on the WHOLE challenge) he has chose to go his own way. Hindsight would have said... Sell when the market peaked but guess what?

He has a nice shop and opportunities every month.

Dakar is 90 days away before you know it. And now not only will he be called NASCAR star but also 2009 SCORE Baja Champion. His Way!

Remember when everyone said "He should have taken the million and stayed with VW" ? naw! He is making Us proud driving the AMERICAN MADE car. This year should be his most competitive yet at DAKAR. More power, lighter more experienced and hopefully they don't cut all the really rough stuff out this year cuz there is more of it scheduled.

Remember when everyone said he needs to just focus on NASCAR or Offroad but not both? He looks to be the SCORE champ this year. He also has one of the baddest Pro2 rigs out there.

The one thing that I could see helping his CUP team is another team. Robby is not the best CUP driver out there in any car. However, he could gain some ground with another driver who will try different things and work with a crew chief so RG could see some other ideas.
word to the mother ship !
Doesn't RGOR build all these from the ground up also and just put 'skins' on the outside that looks like a Hummer? I don't know for sure,......but regardless of the name on anything, if it is built in this country by Americans it is American Made. (American owned is best obviously because the profits (if there are any) stay here, too.)
nice post fly... nascar is a work in progress for RGM.... im not saying he is happy with where its at. there is a big picture here folks..... look at other racing programs. is there anyother driver or program out there doing what RGM does? I dont post very often, but i do read most of what you all are chit chatting about. everyone needs to chill and enjoy the ride. the fruit is close to being picked....
TRG consistantly outperforms RGM when they do not start and park; that should not happen based on their shoestring budget and 7 full time employees.

Just for reference, David Gilliland has no issues getting the #71 into the show, yet could not get the 04 up to speed at Kansas. Does this not indicate there is a fundimental flaw with RGMs equipment? (As if struggling at the road courses didnt indicate that already)

Im not trying to be negative, rather just have a discussion.
