2009 Homestead Race Weekend Discussion

Join in here and discuss all the weekend action from Homestead. Robby Gordon will be running the #7 Mapei/Menards Toyota. Matt Crafton will practice and qualify the car while Robby runs in the Baja 1000.Here is the weekend schedule for RGM at the Florida track.
FRIDAY , NOVEMBER 20th
Practice 11:30am - 1:00 pm/et TV - SPEED
Qualifying 3:10 - 5:00 pm/et TV - SPEED

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 21st

Practice 1:30 - 2:15 pm/et TV - SPEED
Happy Hour 2:50 pm - 3:50 pm/et TV - ESPN2

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 22nd

Pre-race at 2:30 pm/et TV - ABC
Green Flag 3:15 pm/et TV - ABC

just a question. I just watched that interview with Robby, he said that Crafton will probably do practice on Saturday also. I thought it was a rule that a driver must turn at least one lap at the track before the were allowed to race that weekend?

car must turn laps in practice or it cant qualify. Robby has missed many Dover June race practices ( before the Baja 500 schedule adjustment ) and only turned laps for the first time on raceday, as well as Pocono earlier this year when Kvapil hooked it up in Fri and Sat practice

Matt ended up 43rd in practice, and will go out 26th in qualifying

I guess Matt's orders were to get the handling dialed in and keep it off the wall. As we are starting in the back anyway, there is no gain from burning the tires off the thing.

never really expect to see fast laps when someone like Matt or PJ is in the car with limited COT/cup car experience anyway.
