Rain will be starting within the next 15 minutes...and it looks like a rest of the day kiler....
but with double file restarts ... SHOOTOUT STYLE! (I hate when they say that).... all will be good...
I'm about 45 miles south of there, and we had some HORRENDOUS thunderstorms last night. More in the forcast for today, and some for Saturday and Sunday. So far, Sunday looks to be the best day - hopefully any precipitation will hold off until after the race. No lights at NHMS, so not too much time to dry a track.

Edit: In fact, I just looked out my office window in Cambridge, and it's raining here now.
Figures: Robby got a kick ass qualifying draw of 34th, so its only normal for rain to cancel everything.
oh that sucks!
Was thinking the same thing, possible Top 20 qualifying spot will be watered down to 34th
wow right on time with 15 min....lol
with the 34th place draw...QFT
Nascar wants to know from drivers how to make the racing better....fix qualifying when rain occurs! They all have access to radar, they know if rain is coming....If they complete a full practice then they should use practice speeds to determine the lineup, if practice & qualifying is rained out then fine use the points!

It's just crazy to see cars running Top 10 speeds miss the race due to rain, or drivers like Robby have a good car have to start near the rear.

Nascar can wave a "Blue & Green" flag indcating practice is underway & rain is a threat so speeds will be used if necessary. Just anything rather than scratching it!
It'd be simpler to use the qualifying draw as the start position. Wouldn't change anything for Robby today, but it'd ensure that the point leaders don't get an automatic advantage when it rains.

IMO, using practice speeds would be a really bad idea. It would turn practice into a race for the fastest lap if there's any chance of rain. Teams really need practice to work on car setups, and that usually doesn't result in the fastest laps.
As for the top 35 guys..Owner Points is fine. It is one of the few advantages being the points leader has (esp. in the first 26) with the advent of the Chase. Theyve earned it throughout the season....they should be there when it rains.

As for the GOGH, I would like to see, if possible and track schedule permits, an attempt to qualify them on Saturday morning an dlive them up from 36th on in order of which they qualify. t would really take all of 10-15 min to do this at most tracks.
But in the practice just before qualifying, most drivers end in up in qualifying trim anyway. I'd rather set the field by points than qualifying draw. At least that has SOMETHING to do with speed.
