Robby Gordon Darlington Preview
(Charlotte, NC) May 8, 2009 –Robby Gordon Motorsports heads south to Darlington Raceway for the legendary Southern 500. Gordon will pilot his No. 7 Quaker State Camry around the 1.366-mile track, which is notorious for its “too tough to tame” characteristics.
Darlington Data – While the “Lady in Black” celebrates her 60th-anniversary, Gordon will take the green flag for the 14th time on Saturday. In his Sprint Cup Series career, he has led 19 laps at Darlington and holds one top-five and two top-15 finishes.
Darlington Dish – “Unfortunately, our performances this year have been better than the final results. After our 16th-place finish last weekend at Richmond, I really think that things are looking up for the No. 7 team. I believe you will see a string of strong finishes from our organization in the coming races,” commented Gordon.
“Darlington is one of those tracks that lives up to its characteristics and is one of the toughest tracks on the circuit. We had a great car here last year, so we are hoping that we can duplicate that effort this weekend and avoid the infamous “Darlington Stripe.”
