Charlotte, NC (October 2, 2009) – The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will travel to Kansas Speedway this weekend for the third race of The Chase. Following a tough weekend and serious accident at Dover International Speedway, the No. 7 MAPEI team is looking to get back on track at Kansas Speedway heading into the final stretch of the 2009 season.
Robby’s Remarks – “We’ve done a lot of work on our intermediate track program over the last year and a half,” said Gordon. “Kansas is a very tough track, but it’s actually very similar to Chicagoland. We had a very strong run going at Chicagoland earlier this summer, but a mechanical failure caused us to finish at the back of the pack. I hope that the No. 7 MAPEI team has great finish here on Sunday.”
Kansas Statistics – The Price Chopper 400 on Sunday afternoon will mark Gordon’s 8th start at Kansas Speedway. Gordon has recorded more than 1,800 laps around the intermediate-sized track and has completed 99.4% of all possible laps in the races he has entered at Kansas Speedway. Gordon looks to use Sunday’s race to improve on his average 24th-place finish at the 1.5-mile oval.
Appearance Schedule – Before the green flag falls for the Price Chopper 400, Gordon will make an appearance at the Robby Gordon Motorsports merchandise trailer to sign autographs for his fans. The driver of the No. 7 MAPEI Camry will appear at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday morning.
TV and Radio Times – Qualifying for the Price Chopper 400 can be viewed on SPEED Channel beginning at 4:30 p.m. EST on Friday, October 2. A live television broadcast for the race will be provided by ABC beginning at 1:00 p.m. EST on Sunday, October 4. MRN and Sirius Satellite Radio will carry live radio coverage of the event beginning at 1:15 p.m. EST.
