Robby Gordon Martinsville Preview
Charlotte, NC (October 22, 2009) – Robby Gordon and his No. 7 team are gearing up for Martinsville Speedway this weekend. Earlier this week the team announced that NASCAR veteran Doug Richert will be calling the shots on No. 7 for the remainder of the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. Also new this weekend is the sponsor for the No. 7 – Schrock Cabinetry will adorn the hood of Gordon’s yellow and blue Toyota.
Robby’s Remarks – “I’m very excited to have Schrock Cabinetry on the hood of our Camry this weekend,” said Gordon. “Hopefully, we’ll be able to put on a strong showing for Schrock Cabinetry and all of our other partners this weekend. Martinsville is one of the toughest tracks we race on, especially from an equipment standpoint. Putting 43 drivers on track with the long straight-aways and the tight corners makes for interesting racing.”
Martinsville Statistics – In the spring race at Martinsville Speedway, the Robby Gordon Motorsports team succumbed to an expired engine after just 349 of the scheduled 500 laps. Since 1997, Gordon has 18 starts at the half-mile paperclip-shaped oval and has recorded more than 7,300 laps around the track. The veteran driver led a total of four laps on the way to his best-ever Martinsville Speedway finish of 20th during the April 2005 race.
TV and Radio Times – ABC will have a live television broadcast of the Tums Fast Relief 500 from Martinsville Speedway on Sunday afternoon, October 25, beginning at 1:00 p.m. EST. Radio coverage of the event can be heard on MRN and SIRIUS Satellite Radio beginning at 12:15 p.m. EST on Sunday. Qualifying for the 500-lap event will be shown on ESPN2 beginning at 3:10 p.m. EST on Friday, October 22.
