Charlotte, NC (August 13, 2009) – Robby Gordon hopes to capitalize on his team’s improved performance at intermediate tracks during the Carfax 400 at the Michigan International Speedway. In June, Gordon had a solid qualifying run on Friday and strong practices sessions all weekend before bringing home a 17th-place finish on Sunday. Gordon and crew look to improve on that finish this weekend as he pilots the No. 7 Moen Toyota Camry for the first time this season. Sunday will mark Gordon’s 20th start at the two-mile, D-shaped oval track known for high speeds and three and four wide racing.
TV and Radio Times – Qualifying is set for Friday, August 14th at 3:30 p.m. (ET) on SPEED TV, MRN, and Sirius. The 200 laps of racing action begins on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPN, MRN and Sirius Satellite radio.
Michigan – “Although we were disappointed in our run last week at Watkins Glen, we have to put that behind us and view this weekend’s race as a fresh start. We’ve had some bad luck this season, but I have faith that our program will continue to improve each week,” commented Gordon.
“We had a strong run at Michigan earlier this year. I hope that we can take what we learned and improve on it for an even better result. I am excited to have Moen on the car this weekend and look forward to an exciting race,” Gordon stated.
Appearance Schedule – Thursday evening from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., the Jackson Menards
will become a center of racing activity as Robby Gordon, driver of the No. 7 Menards Camry and
Paul Menard, driver of the No. 98 Menards Ford, visit the store. It provides an opportunity for
employees, media, and fans to ask them questions about being NASCAR drivers and the upcoming
Carfax 400 at Michigan International Speedway. The Jackson Menards is located at 3588 Page
Avenue, Jackson, MI 49203.
