CHARLOTTE, NC (May 1, 2009) – After a disappointing finish last weekend, the Robby Gordon Motorsports team is looking forward to the short-track racing action this weekend at Richmond International Raceway. The No. 7 Toyota Camry will debut the Energizer colors this weekend at the ¾-mile D-shaped oval.
Richmond Remarks – “We are happy to have Energizer on the car this weekend. Richmond always has great side-by-side racing,” Gordon stated. “Just like any short track though, the key is to start up front and stay up there. It’s one of those places where it can be a really long night if the stars don’t align. The key there is to qualify well, keep your fenders clean and hope you’re still competitive by the end of the race.”
Richmond Results – Saturday’s race marks Gordon’s 21st appearance at Richmond with two Nationwide Series and 18 Sprint Cup Series starts at the ¾-mile D-shaped oval. In September 2004, Gordon captured his first Nationwide Series win in his own No. 55 at RIR.
TV and Radio Times – Qualifying is set for Friday, May 1 at 5:30 p.m. (ET) on SPEED, MRN, and Sirius Satellite Radio. The 400 laps of racing action begins on Saturday, May 2 at 7:00 p.m. (ET) and will be broadcast live on FOX, MRN and Sirius Satellite Radio.
Appearances –Gordon will be at the Sprint Experience on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. for a question and answer session.
“Vote for Robby” – Jim Beam’s “Vote for Robby” campaign, which encourages fans to vote Gordon into the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race event on May 16 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, will continue this weekend at Richmond International Raceway. Jim Beam representatives will roam the race track, encouraging fans to “Vote for Robby” distributing custom-designed “Vote for Robby” T-shirts and stickers.
