Indianapolis Motor Speedway announced that the 500 will take place at 1 p.m. Eastern time. The Coca-Cola 600 later that day is set to start at 5:45 p.m. Eastern Time.
I guess the IRL can watch their rating slip again this year. They can say what they want but Tony, Robby, Juan and Sam would be the biggest and best thing if they came to drive Indy again. Im sorry but an hour does not make that much of a difference in the ratings. I know the west coast is 3 hours behind but the race was at 12 forever and the IRL enjoyed some of their best ratings for the race during that time and the interest in the 500 when Tony did the double duty in 2001 was far bigger than if they start the race at 1.

And we all though Tony George was what was wrong with the IRL. The race used to start at 11AM. A little early for us west coasters but it made for an entire day of racing to watch Indy and the 600. Nowadays who cares about Indy? Last year was the first time I even paid ANY attention to it.
