He was the 1st to pit for the 1st round of stops too, a couple of laps earlier than everyone else. That just carried through the whole race.

Too bad his good fortune with Ambrose and Edwards having trouble couldn't carry all the way to the end though. Those two had him covered, but he had a top 3-5 car for sure.

Maybe they can hang a banner up in the shop saying he won the Montreal 200? No need to worry about the fact it went about 206 miles...
IF he could have streteched it... he pitted early throughout the entire race and the strategy earned him the lead. On a 4 mile track, the only time you take that chance is when you're going for the win. AWESOME job Robby! I couldn't even sit down during that red flag, too worked up knowing it was once again in his grasp but the odds of the fuel lasting were slim.

But the key here is that the win was in his grasp. Again. And you have to get that close to even have a chance for the win. Each "almost" is one step closer to Victory Lane.
great race, I like seeing Edwards have issues, abd was bummed about RG running out of fuel.

Miles is a cool guy and cool for him to get some TV time.

I think the green white checkers needs to go away. I was a privilege not to be abused, and yet it is abused almost every race.
Planning for a possible GWC is now part of the game. Teams that over look it, run out of gas.
I hate to be "one of those guys", but today, I have to be... This race could have been won so fing easy, it makes me sick. If Robby ever looks at these boards, please, please, as you get organized for 2011, get a race manager - someone who can watch the big picture of the race as it develops and plan strategy, call audibles, etc. It can't be done by the spotter or crew chief, they are too busy with other things, and it CERTAINLY can't be done from the cockpit. I was going to say that there are at least 20 people on these boards that could have won that race for RGM, but after looking at all these stupid, inaccurate posts, I guess I'm the only one who gets it. Maybe I should apply for the job:-)

A big "attaboy(or girl)" to the first person who figures out the three ways RGM could have won this race. By the way, Robby chose the 4th strategy, the only one guaranteed to lose the race.

I disagree...It's easy when you know the outcome what should have been done. Miles made the call that gave Robby the opportunity to win. Robby made it to the end of the race. The G-W-C is what bit Robby. Had there been another caution and another G-W-C it's doubtful even Boris would have won.

Starting from the rear was the right call (better to race with a car 100% than start 16th with a possible ticking time bomb). Coming in and packing it full of fuel was great strategy...it put Robby in the game. Had the wreck not happened Robby would have won, Miles would have looked like a genius and we would all be celebrating. G-W-C benefit some and hurt some...it's part of the race. Every driver & crew chief knows the deal and has to plan on possibly 3 of them.

Had Ambrose & Carl not had issues it would have been hard for Robby to beat those two. Carl passed Robby under green and drove away. Robby had his car set up for fuel runs (which means giving up some speed) it looked like he was right on with that strategy until the G-W-C came out. It happens. Robby displayed they still have what it takes and Robby drove the wheels off that car. Coming from the rear and leading the field to the green the last time the flag waved was pretty incredible. Hope Robby has the same mind frame as Ambrose..."Keep coming back til we win this thing!"

(Note: Rumors have Montreal on the chalkboard as a possible Cup date in 2012 or 2013.)

The clover was just not strong enough sorry................................................However you folks lost sight of the facts that:
1) If the caution had not come out for a spin (forget car number) right before Carl "flipper" Edwards breaks his trackbar set up Robby wins the race easily. The caution that was displayed at the time of Edwards failure was not for Edwards.
2) Those caution flag laps that were run twice prior to the GWC is what helped Robby save gas to be there at the end. It was DAMN CLOSE even without the GWC.
3) Robby was one of "several" drivers who were befallen to heartbreak.
4) This race reminds me of a time when this girl came up to me and as she placed her moist sweet lips on mine she cranked my baby makers with a knee worthy of smithsonian recognition. If you are wondering, NO I repeat NO I did not deserve that kiss.
5) Tell us Miles, how much gas was left in the tank, sitting still did it have an effect on fuel pickup...being low as we were? Tell us on speedfactory how much gas was there.
sitting still proably had no or little effect on fuel pickup.....road course cars have the fuel pump in the middle section of the fuel cell, in turn it can pretty much use every bit of gas, or almost run it dry. The right calls were made.
