Robby Gordon wins the O’Reilly Auto Parts Award after an 18th place finish in the Sprint Cup Amp Energy Juice 500 at Talladega Superspeedway.

yea!
So... NASCRAP looking for a reason to take points from RGM!
OK well I guess NASCAR did take the cup car for further evaluation...Their world, we're just trying to live in it (Speed Energy Tweet)
Does anyone know exactly why the car was taken back to NASCAR Tech? I know its standard protocol that they take the winning car back to further evaluate, but I did not know they took other cars unless they suspected something?

Maybe this is NASCAR's way of reminding Robby who the boss is. Maybe all the SPEED Energy hype at a race sponsored by AMP has them not happy. Lets hope their is nothing wrong with the car as a 100 or 150 point penalty will kill RGM and take them out of the top 35.
They always take a random car back to R&D that finished in a wierd position. Nothing uncommon going on here. I think everyone is making a huge deal over something that really isnt. I get that everyone is suspicous of them taking the car back but I really think its nothing,

Robby Gordon's stunt of plastering his personal vehicle with his SPEED energy drink decals then driving through the garage to his motorhome lot smacked of guerilla marketing. He knew the car would be towed -- after all, AMP Energy Juice had paid an estimated $1 million U.S. for the right to be the race sponsor -- and Gordon alerted the media that the tow job was going to happen...
Not really surprised at all. Still great publicity for this weekend, although the media may remember this the next time RGM has an PR or announcement.
IMHO, If RGM wants to run Robby and KC in the first 5 races next year, then they should buy an owners points spot, just so the extra pressure is off.
From Jeff Gordon: (From Paddock Talk)

WAS TO GO TO THE FRONT WITH 16 OR 17 TO GO, WAS THAT YOUR STRATEGY? "I didn't think it was going to happen that early. We were sitting there in line and basically my strategy was if I felt like our line was moving cleanly to the front, then I would go with him. One time that started happening and the No. 47 (Marcos Ambrose) spun. Other than that, I felt like we were right in the middle of it. Guys were just being too out of control too early. On the third lap of the race, the No. 7 (Robby Gordon) started running into the back of me and I thought this is too early so I just went to the back. Every time that happened and I saw that happening around me, I just went to the back.
