All I am going to say is dont you think everyone else was just taking their time at that point in the race?

Show me a RGM plate car after the switch to Toyota that has been capable of breaking the top 15 in the last 5 laps of the race. (Especially at Daytona when the tires have been run for more than 7-8 laps)

I am just being realistic here. Its like RGM went away from an all out downforce car that sucks up well to avoid losing the draft (remember that was a big issue in 2008, lucky he always got it back or was a free pass car under caution) and they lost the ability to consistently run up front. The best car he ever (plate wise) had was at the 2008 Pepsi 400, if that race had gone green that last lap he had a for certain top 5.

Now with the threat of having to qualify on speed, the car will go even further away from a downforce specific body and "undertray," all in the hopes the car is quicker by itself.

I honestly dont know what to expect, but as always with Robby it should be fun to watch.
Racing is racing, and I saw racing when RG led at Dega. The 2010 plate stuff isnt as bad as you make it out to be.Enjoy !
what is the penalty for working on a car in am impound race?
DQ
Do you suppose Nascar will put in a competiton caution around 20 laps in the race if it rains out qualifying?

And if so ,then how do set up the car, knowing in 20 laps eveyone gets to come in!!
Lartry Mac said it takes several stops to make changes from qualifying trim to race trim. If a long yellow happens early it can be done. Last year, 1 car dove onto pit row after the green flag and made the changes going a lap down because they said it was almost undriveable in traffic
which chassis are they bringing this weekend?
The "lay back" strategy was a FAIL at Daytona. The larger restrictor plate changed everything. The plate for Dega is slightly smaller, but we also have the spoiler and shark fin to contend with. Drivers that plan to lay back better make sure in practice that it's going to work.
Is the Monster merchandise truck coming to the track this weekend? Forgive me if that has already been answered elsewhere.
From NASCAR_WXMAN (Brian Neudorff):

I am not sharing this to scare anyone, if you are going to be at the track Saturday or are camping the weekend this is information you need to know. Many race scanners have the ability to double as a all hazards weather radio. This rain which will be heavy at times and even stormy will be around most of the day Saturday. It’s very possible it will scratch Cup qualifying and the Nationwide race in the afternoon.

See his full report here.
Even a little 20 minute downpour shortly before qualifying would cancel it, because the track will take forever to dry.
If it rains are we in the race for sure?
