2011 Bristol Night Race and Discussion

Discuss all the weekend action for the 2011 Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway as Robby Gordon drives the #7 SPEED Energy Dodge. Here is the weekend schedule:

FRIDAY , AUGUST 26th
Practice 1 12:00PM - 2:00PM (EST) ( TV - SPEED )
Practice 2 2:45PM - 3:30PM (EST) ( TV - SPEED )
Qualifying 5:10PM (EST) ( TV - SPEED )

SATURDAY , AUGUST 27th
Race 7:30PM (EST) Green Flag approx. 7:43PM ( TV - ABC )

going to be a start & park weekend anyways so really not much to get excited about if he does or does not make the race.

How do you know it is a S&P race? Where did I miss that? RG can get back into the top 35 if he really puts his mind to it and I hope he does.

I would only look for an audible if A) the 7 makes the race B) Lally has trouble early in the race (he is struggling today)

All I am going to say is date back to beginning of year: 16-20 races the #7 will run...16-20 they wont...getting to the point in the season that is majority "won't"

I don't think the top 35 holds much for RGM at this point. Granted it locks you in the 1st 5 races which helps sell you to a sponsor on your race team but with Robby being the sponsor pimping the team to business isn't on the front burner. Pimping SPEEDENRGY to distribution/buying public is what's on the front burner. The money spent trying to get back into the top 35 might just be better spent building the brand, which would fund the team at a competitive level long term. Plus Robby with funding and lead time to prep can get into the 1st 5 races on his own.

I agree 100% that RG can get into those first 5 races on his own if he even wants to run all 5 of them. There is more to being in the top 35 than making the first 5 races. It gives him something he can wheel and deal with. You know Danica will be buying some other cars points to make sure she races Daytona and they will pay whatever they have to for those points.

They ran a total, of 17 laps in 2 practices. You are not racing with that little amount of laps at a short track.
