So the half million dollar question is ,if you buy a Gibb's chassis do you get the illegal oil pan to go with your engine manufacture?
Imagine if Robby did buy a complete Gibb's chassis?
So,if Carl Long gets 150k fine for a worn out engine in a non-points event what is it worth for a 3car team to all get caught with performance enhancing weight placement (for all you stick and ball folks-steroids!!!)puts a different perspective on Schrub's wins!IMO
I am sure the jgr cars have a few other "gray areas" in their cars. I am just waiting for someone to get caught with traction control. I think I remember someone saying its easy to do and hard to catch.

“If I look at being consistent as we always are with our penalties and I go back to the incidents previous to this – for example the Michael Waltrip radiator last year, where a penalty was written for not submitting a part for competition - it was a cash fine,” Darby said. “It didn’t involve points.”

One of the reasons Darby doesn’t have to decide is because the parts never were used on the race track.

Let's not forget RG who was penalized 25 points and fined $25,000 for attaching a brace holding a wood block inside his right-side door panels at Darlington Raceway last week.
If memory is right, it was last year that RGM got the fine for the wood brace.
yup,uh huh.. last year
and the part did go on track in the car thats what makes the diff.
unapproved part caught in tech inspection is one thing.
unapproved part goes on track and discovered after practice, "Q" or race is a very big deal!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......
Brace was found and taken off before practice. Check out 2:50

WOW...
nascar hates RG
I, can see that now
Can't tell if you sarcastic or not but I don't think they hate RG.

I think they love money and the big teams with a little of who tows the NASCAR line. They are setting up a no points penalty because taking points from all three JGR teams might push them out of the chase. It would not look good if no JGR team was in the chase.
exactly jeff point you have to be the same with the penalty no matter who commits it, did you ever think that the reason they are where they are is the illegal piece? substantial advantage. a rule is a rule if robby and jeff gordon or whoever violate the same rule the punishment should be the same no matter who broke the rule
Thanks GasOn, I've not seen that footage.
We'll know Tuesday how loopsided Na$crap is with penalties.
This is NASCAR and we know they play favorites. Don't be surprised if it is a money fine as the cars did not go on the track.
Another stunt like this was the lower control arms filled with ball bearings. I can't think of the team/driver off hand but they dumped out through a hole all over the track. A question I have as I don't have the official rule book in my library at this time is this, and perhaps teams are onto this. Teams with tons of money and time to build "special cars" that is. Like I said perhaps it is already done I would not know.
Since there is a rule for minimal thickness for the body sheet metal is there a rule for maximum? Perhaps the rule reads that the thickness has to be between X thousandths and X thousandths or as it should be written.X-.000 & X-.000. And so in thinking there is no max the sheet metal could be used to carry weight to the lower end. It would make sense to have the weight concentrated as much as possible and directly over the center of the front wheels since thats where it is sought I believe. However with limitations i'm sure on just about everything, in theory any car handles better with the weight closer to the ground. Just ask my van as it plundered through the whooping curves of the back roads on it's way to the hallowed party ground that some see as a snooze fest ...Pocono. And a special hello to the fine looking and always fair female Pennsylvania state trooper that had to deal with me three years in a row. What are the odds? About as long as her being a member here, however I did plug the site but I can't account for her taking the next step, kinda ticked she is working while the race is being run. Back to Michigan,
HERE'S TO A GREAT LAP , GAS ON.... AND PUT THAT BLOCK OF WOOD UNDER THE BREAK
