With the 2014 Dakar Rally beginning in less than 45 days, here is a brief F.A.Q.

Feel like highjacking this thread with a computer question ...but saying you tube gives me an error message and my music is gone and a new windows media player won't download might not be inline with the fact that I'm a diehard robby gordon fan waiting for ...you know ..an answer...I hope these drawings are correct...
After seeing the artists graphite sketches and the computer aided color mock up of same that came in the mail I'd have to say this is one sleak lookin vehicle. Style, stance and air flow wrapped in a eye popping lizard skin like that is going to blow you away. I can only imagine how it feels to sit in the cockpit and watch some of the worlds most prestine landscape fly by without so much as a wink or a whisper, where each second builds into minutes and them to hours and construct days that blend together into a time compression of triumph and heartbreak niether of which is given it's true credit, worth or note. To hold in my hand a static rendition of the nations greatest unknown pride. To feel an image come to life on the page and speak, speak in a language that can only mock images on a "TV Screen" as it were. A portfolio that screams, cover story for "Holy Shit" magazine. A fine print that should have real dirt on it. Like beer coming out of the garden hose on a hot summer day. Yes the snow was no match for the mailman today.
80+ here today
I want a picture please.
You are a mobile animal...
301 of 445 entries finished last year. It seems traditionally that percentage is much lower. I haven't seen a more intimate map that isn't just the general route to compare it to last years route.
by DAKAR standards it fewer than normal by quit a bit.Events can greatly change the number of finisher's and results.Recall stage 8 last year, with flash floods? That could/would have changed the result's/number of finishers.

It seems every year they cancel/shorten a stage. I recall the one across the mountains where a snow storm hit. It seems a delicate balance between the natural nature of this race and then factor in the elements. Mike you're exactly right, that flood stage would have totally changed the face of the entire race. I just hope they don't mess with it too much.
