UYUNI- SALTA

January 10th 2017

The Dakar will leave the Altplano for an off-road special stage in its first half, where the crossing of fords will follow the dune sectors. The race has often set up camp in Salta, but never has a special stage been contested in the region where the battle for the general classification will be played out in new canyons to be admired with a marriage of spectacular colours.

Stage 9 Cancelled.

seriously? wow

Mike thanks for all the work this year. Need to be on this more.

BTW this was an impressive showing for an electronic car in Dakar. We're still going and got DQ'd for what sounds like a stupid reason. They should let them keep going for testing.

This team sparked my interest from the time I heard they entered. A few things I wonder, Did they recharge along the route? The batteries could not last an entire stage (maybe they can but I would be shocked). I do believe they have to recharge/replace batteries along the way and if that's the case I wonder if they considered running with a generator, they could feed it a bio fuel if they wanted to keep with their green theme. Hybrids are coming to off-road, its just a matter of time as they are already the fastest pavement cars.

Did you see the specs on that ride? The batteries are huge, and then they used fast charge at the fueling stations supposedly.

Really it is just one big fire hazard. The heat and altitude can't be good on the packs. If Telsa or someone like that got involved I bet it would be great learnings for street cars as well.
