Robby Gordon is not scheduled to compete.

Saudi Arabia is +8 hours on Eastern Time / +11 on the West Coast.

January 5th-10th, the Rally Raid starts in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and races North East before racing to South Eastern city of Riyadh.

January 11th, Rest Day Riyadh

January 12th-17th, the Rally Raid continues from Riyadh through the South Eastern area of Saudi Arabia before heading to West, finishing in Qiddiya.

Thanks for all the updates Mike. I'm slow in keeping up this year but working on it. It was good to see that on the bikes, Andrew Short did well with a 3rd on the stage and no major fall since he said he is running out of helmets. Let's hope he keeps that up, the no falling part that is. And as a privateer Skyler Howes is doing awesome! I can't imagine riding the Dakar as a privateer, well, ok, at all.

It was fun to see Utta Kleinschmidt there since I remember Robby being on team VW with her for his first time in Dakar! He did help her out a lot! Boy was that a long time ago. This year I seem to be more excited about the bikes than the cars. Carlos Sainz seems to be doing well so far. Oh well, we will see what this next stage has in store.

Yup, that was fun to watch! Boy he looks so young! LOL It was fun to see Robby have a good time and laugh right there at the beginning. It was interesting to hear the announcer say that Robby has his own unique way to cross the river! Then Utta said that she was very thankful that Robby was there to exchange the steering with her when she had her issues and that he must have taken apart many cars since he was so fast which helped her not to lose that much time. She greatly appreciated that.

07:53 Brabec on the hunt
Ricky Brabec has also started the day’s special. The American is fourth to start, behind Andrew Short, and is in an ideal position to regain time on the first riders out and increase his lead in the general standings.

09:39 Benavides leads the charge
Kevin Benavides continues to lead the stage on arrival at the first neutralised zone. His team-mates Ricky Brabec, Joan Barreda and Jose Ignacio Cornejo are also in the top 4. It looks like the Honda riders have the firm intention of reaching the rest day in total control of the general standings.

09:49 Price loses ground
Toby Price is doing his best to open the way, but the Australian has still conceded 3’35 to Kevin Benavides after 165 km. He will have to stop leaking minutes soon…

10:33 Brabec takes command
Ricky Brabec is in the same good form today as since the beginning of the Dakar. The leader of the general standings now leads the special after 213 km, 26 seconds ahead of his team-mate Kevin Benavides. Toby Price continues to lose time and trails the American by 4’36.

12:19 The Benavides brothers
Kevin and Luciano Benavides are probably the quickest brothers in the rally-raid discipline. They are taking part in their third Dakar together, one for the official Honda team, the other for the KTM factory team. “It’s very nice to ride the Dakar with my brother,” admits Luciano. “Today is the first stage where we’ve really ridden together and it’s very special. I hope that we can both enjoy a good stage and a good Dakar”.

12:32 Brabec still under threat from Benavides
Ricky Brabec continues to lead the stage after 371 km, but Kevin Banvides is not giving up and is just one minute behind his team-mate, followed by Matthias Walkner, Andrew Short and Joan Barreda, whereas Toby Price has lost more than 6 minutes.

12:40 Price at a standstill!
Toby Price has ground to a halt after 425 km of the special, a pause which could be very costly for the KTM rider in the general standings.

13:02 Benavides stops!
Following Toby Price, now Kevin Benavides has come to a standstill several kilometres from the finishing line. The Argentinean was only 25 seconds behind Brabec at the last time check and has already lost more than 10 minutes.

13:15 Brabec wins his second stage
Ricky Brabec has grabbed his second stage victory since the start in Jeddah, finishing 1’34 in front of Joan Barreda. This is a major boost for the American how now finds himself alone at the top of the general standings.

10:10 Peterhansel leads
Stéphane Peterhansel has made the best time after 57 km. The Mini driver leads Nasser Al-Attiyah by 20 seconds, whilst Yazeed Al Rajhi and Carlos Sainz are also less than one minute behind, so there is all to play for…

10:40 Peterhansel maintains the pace
Stéphane Peterhansel continues to lead the special after 107 km, ahead of Nasser Al-Attiyah, Yazeed Al Rajhi and Carlos Sainz, though the gaps between the four men are minimal.

11:39 Patton rolls his car
The fifth stage has only lasted 4 kilometres for Texan Bobby Patton. The co-owner of the Los Angeles base-ball team has crashed and rolled his Toyota, leaving his co-pilot with back and torso injuries, meaning it is the end of the road on his first Dakar.

11:53 Sainz moves into the lead
We are once again witnessing a splendid battle between the 3 leading drivers on the Dakar. Carlos Sainz has now taken the lead after 213 km, just 2 seconds ahead of Stéphane Peterhansel and 21 seconds in front of Nasser Al-Attiyah

12:36 Peterhansel regains the lead
Stéphane Peterhansel is not letting himself be pushed around and the Frenchman has regained the lead over Carlos Sainz after 265 km, by 22 seconds. Nasser Al-Attiyah is still close behind, trailing by just 52 seconds.

12:51 Alonso is battling well
Fernando Alonso has been rather efficient on this 6th stage. The Spaniard is only 4 minutes behind Stéphane Peterhansel after 265 km of the special!

16:00 Peterhansel wins the stage
Stéphane Peterhansel has put in a fine performance between Ha’il and Riyadh to win, 1’35 ahead of Carlos Sainz, who in turn retains a solid lead in the general standings because there were nor real gaps between the leading drivers on this stage of the rally.
