09:57 Brabec: 'Trying not to lose too much time'
Ricky Brabec went through km 214 of today's special with a four-minute deficit to teammate Kevin Benavides. From his point of view, 'The stage is going well. I had to open the track, so I'm not expecting to win and expand my lead today. I'm rather trying not to lose too much time. My teammate, Joan [Barreda], caught up with me and I think we'll just spend the rest of the stage riding together. I hope to end the day on a high note, not to lose too much time and live to fight another day. My only goal for today is to make it to the finish.'

Paulo Gonçalves, racing on motorbike no. 8, has passed away from a fall sustained 276 kilometres into today's special. The organisers received an alert at 10:08 and dispatched a medical helicopter that reached the biker at 10:16 and found him unconscious after going into cardiac arrest. Following resuscitation efforts in situ, the competitor was taken by helicopter to Layla Hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead.
40-year-old Paulo Gonçalves was taking part in his 13th Dakar. He made his debut in 2006 and had finished four times in the top 10, including an impressive performance as runner-up to Marc Coma in 2015. Paulo Gonçalves, the 2013 cross-country rallies world champion, was sitting in 46th place overall after stage 6 of the 2020 Dakar.
The entire Dakar caravan would like to extend its sincere condolences to his friends and family.

Godspeed Paulo

I was just reading that. Wow

16:11 Guthrie out!
As the first SSVs roll across the line, Mitchell Guthrie (who went through km 161 in third place) has been knocked out of the race by a mechanical. An infuriating development for the American rookie, who turned heads with his win in stage 4.

16:19 Hildebrand takes his maiden win
Racing under Dakar Experience rules since his withdrawal in stage 2, Blade Hildebrand had to wait until stage 7 for his true potential to shine through. He has won the stage by 11 minutes over fellow American Casey Currie and 13 minutes over Aron Domżała.

So,that is all 3 Red Bull's with a stage DNF.

I guess that's batting 1000
3 cars 3 wins 3 DNFs
