Moto: Avantage Honda for the moment
Ricky Brabec leads the dance at the first time check point ahead of Joan Barreda and Nacho Cornejo. Toby Price is 28’’ behind the American, whilst the Hero ridden by Joaquim Rodrigues trails by 35’’, in front of Kevin Benavides. Lorenzo Santolino has put his Sherco a little more than one minute behind the current stage leader for the moment.

Branch throws in the towel
Ross Branch, absent from the start this morning, will not be carrying on racing, which, according to the Yamaha team management, is a sensible decision. Three official riders have dropped out of the rally, namely Daniel Sanders (GasGas), Skyler Howes (Husqvarna) and now Ross Branch (Yamaha), out of the 19 that began the Dakar (4 Honda, 3 KTM, 3 Yamaha, 3 Sherco, 2 Hero, 2 Husqvarna and 2 GasGas).
