Not trying to be jayski here, but thought it was an interesting twist of news. According to a local sports radio station, the lastest reported rumor is Martin Truex was in closed door negotiations with Max Seigel to possibly return to DEI. When the story broke the next day and revealed terms that were discussed between the two it might have been the last straw for Truex. Truex was very upset, and according to rumors, is turning to RCR as the possible driver for the #33 in 2009. Truex has already lost his crew chief due to a suspension, lost 150 points (-236 points outside the Chase cutoff) due to a inspection violation, and now seems to lost hist trust in the company's leadership. Doesn't look good for DEI.
With Truex's status up in the air, Bass Pro Shops is looking at possibly being the sponsor of the #4 Stewart/Haas Chevy (but only if Truex or Newman are their driver). Supposively Bass Pro Shops indicated they're only interested in sponsoring a Chase caliber driver. Also, Bass Pro Shops is under contract thru 2010 with DEI, but have no idea if their commitment is tied to Truex or performance.
