Hear is what I heard this morning:

Robby had discussions with non other than Richard Childress. Childress set up the meeting with Robby and Max Siegel.

Childress has been working with DEI to help regain their structure.

From The Winston Salem Journal
If Gordon does sign on with DEI, he would be returning to work with legendary car owner Richard Childress, who has been working with Teresa Earnhardt the past several months to try to rebuild DEI, which lost anchor Dale Earnhardt Jr. to Hendrick this year.

Childress has set up a joint engine operation, headed by legendary Richie Gilmore, for both Richard Childress Racing and DEI, and horsepower certainly doesn't seem to be an issue, if NASCAR's latest engine dyno tests are accurate.

But DEI has been racked by a run of bad PR, which has damaged morale.

Childress six weeks ago shipped veteran team manager Bobby Hutchens over to DEI to shape up the competition side of the company.

And one of Hutchens' first chores has been to rebuild morale.

Indeed, there is a clear sense of change in the air among the DEI crewmen.

For Gordon, such a return of sorts to the Childress camp might be just what he needs.

Gordon is 39, and his last Cup tour win was in the summer of 2003 at Watkins Glen, with Childress. In fact all three of Gordon's NASCAR Cup tour victories came with Childress.

As for the 4 car team, currently DEI has all 4 teams inside the Top 35, if Gordon moves to DEI, the #01 would become the #7 with Robby Gordon. Regan Smith would likely be the full time Nationwide driver out of RGM's shop...or hearing if RGM stays inside the Top 35, the #01 could move to RGM's shop and become a 2 car operation with full support from DEI (Like Roush-Yates). The biggest thing will be sponsorship for the #01 and Robby's owner points finish. With Robby moving to DEI sponsors Jim Beam would return and hearing Monster could play a larger role.

If Paul Menard leaves, hearing Menards would still sponsor Robby in some sort of capacity.

There's alot to be finalized and some hinges on Menard's decision. Have not heard yet if Paul stays if Menard & Gordon would have any type of ownership or a percentage of the company (Funny if Robby gets a percentage of the company after Teresa refused to let Dale Jr.)

Hearing they are in serious negotiations with official announcement coming soon.... Gotta love Richard Childress!
Bigzoom, I love your info, but stop using "hearing" it makes you sound like jayski. The only difference is you can spell and he cannot.
Well, I guess it's the old journalist coming out in me. I have a strong connection with some inside Nascar stuff and it sometimes never comes to the surface. (Like last year. I said I heard Robby had a deal working with Robert Yates). It never came forth until the end of the season.

I have sent jayski tons of email in the past, but he's got a real attitude so I quit sending him info.
If Robby got hooked up again in some way with RC I would be very happy.
Menard is going to Yates.
No comment on the DEI deal from you in this or the other thread though. Are you hiding something? :)
Mark your calendars as 2008 being the SILLIEST silly season ever.
I'm not speculating on anything at this moment.

TOG's behavior suggests he is privy to something and has sworn secrecy... bravo to you if that's the case.
Look to see if he has left any clues on this site.................like he did before the "Monster at California" announcement.
Have to agree with you, 2008 is the silliest silly season ever. Think I will just wait it out and not listen to anyone until February.
I'm really glad we have TWO threads here to talk about this.
teresa is not going to give anybody a stake in DEI if she would not do it for dale why would she do it for anybody else.
Agree it was a marketing disaster for DEI, but Teresa wanted control of everything of the late Dale. Mainly, marketing rights to all of Dale Sr. stuff. (Did you know it was Teresa that had the #3, Intimidator and Dale Earnhardt's signature trademarked?)

It was easy for everyone to get behind Junior on that deal since he was the face of DEI's future, but Junior wanted majority control & interest. Can't say I blame her for saying No.

Signing Truex was the biggest hurdle. That keeps a Chase driver and a large sponsor onboard to build on.
