The last couple of years have been tough in this cold northern part of the country - No merchandise trailer - No new swag and NO chance of seeing Robby! But my faith has been renewed, I believe thanks to Kevin Wilson (you are now my new best friend by the way.) Imagine my shock and great joy when on my way to work at the track Friday morning at 6:00 AM, I SAW IT! I thought the early morning fog was clouding my vision, but NO it was really there! The big orange S on the back was shining like a beacon through the fog, and it was real and huge and black and I had to touch it to make sure it wasn't a mirage! Such a beautiful thing! The merchandise trailer has finally made an appearance in New Hampshire! Dave bought more than I did but I managed to get into far more mischief.

Because of the downturn in the economy and the fact that if I want any new Robby swag I have to buy online, I have become an actual track employee on Fridays and Saturdays. On Sundays I have taken the drastic step of working for Motosports Authentics on another driver's trailer. For the last year or so I have worked on Mark Martin's trailer but it makes me feel like such a traitor.Money is money, however, and the people on the trailer are great to work with. On my break Friday I met up with Jenna whom I have spoken with in the past, boughtsome stuff and asked if Robby was coming out. She assured me he would be out on Sunday for autos, etc. NOW I HAVE A PROBLEM! I AM WORKNG FOR SOME:ONE ELSE ON SUNDAY. Since I am nothing short of resorceful I started putting a plan togther because wild horses would not have kept me from seeing Robby.

My plan of action went something like this: I checked with Kathy on Mark's trailer and asked if it would be OK if I took a short break to go see Robby and she said that would be fine. One hurdle down. Now for the big one - I've got to get to the front of his line!!!!! I went to see Jenna and explained my dilemma and now I truly owe her for at least forever because she agreed to let me jump the line and be first!!! Jenna if you read this, I LOVE YOU!

Now it's Sunday morning and I am excited because I'm actually going to lay eyes on a man I haven't seen in two years but still faithfully support. I bail off my trailer at 5 to 10 and thank God they weren't far apart. I explained to the lady at the head of the line why I was there and she was cool about letting me stay. Now we wait!......And we wait!,,,,,,And we wait some more!!! Fifteen minutes later Robby arrived!! I have said for a long time that Rob has no concept of time and it's a wonder he makes it into the cockpit of his car in time for the race.

If anyone read the blog I posted back for the 2007 Dega race you will remember that my brain and therefore my mouth has two separate and very distinct halves - the normal sane half and "the devil half." Here's where the devil half kicked in big time. Robby bouncd in and I just looked at him squarely and said "I haven't seen your sorry ass in two years!" He came back with "I haven't been here." And I replied,
"Yes....I....know, but thank you for bringing the trailer." We chatted for a minute and then I went totally off the deep end! I looked at him and said "Rob, you need to hire me, I can help you sell and market your Speed Energy." His eyes lit up, and he said "up here?" I said "yeah." And then he started chattering to Skip who drives the trailer, spots and works in the garage to have me come around back and get my info
I wasn't done and said, "Rob I want my hug!" He said "sure" and I said "you've got to lean over" So there, in front of God and a long line I got my hug. Dave if you saw that whole thing, sorry I took what seemed like an eternity, but I am pretty sure I got myself anothe job and made a deal with a brown eyed devil at the same time. I made it back to my trailer and worked like a fiend for the rest of the day, but I got to see RG and that make everything worth it.

Now that's a man-crush!
Now thats a good story. When I was at the souvy trailer at Chicagoland, Robby's people were the friendliest ever, good people
You should've announced yourself Speedy! How'd ya like the 2 "unannounced" appearences? Robby also contributed to the local economy at Harrah's Sat night...
As normal for me missed Robby, my bud's are real antsy and are come on come lets go, like to drink alot, still fun..
Oh I saw the whole thing, and covered for you when the people behind me started grumbling. But I did finally get may new Fruit of the Loom car signed, may cooler signed, and my son’s new hat who was in the Lagano line getting stuff for me signed. He was impressed that Robby gave him a shout out when he walked by with his new SPEED hat.
It almost turned to disaster; I left my scanner bag by the steps when I checked on them in the Lagano line. 10 minutes later, it was still there.
Now I’m enjoying a sick day since my usual 30 min drive home turned to 5 hours driving my kids back to Maine after the race.
haha Robby is almost always late....but he is crazy busy.
Glad you had fun Path! We got to mooove these...cans of Octane...lmao Looks like the real supporters are stepping up to support...
Sounds like you were in the real Red Head mode!
Great story Path....you are hardcore.
Yes, MTWOMN, red heads do rule! Hey Dave, I worried a little that some of the natives might get restless, so thanks big time for running interference. There was just no other way I could make it work, and like I mentioned, wild horses were not going to keep me from seeing Robby after two years!
I was surprised too as I came into the track and saw the merchandise trailer on Friday. Got my new hat and a sample of
Ethanol. I was too late Sunday to get in line for Robby , but did get a few pics right before he had to leave.
Yeah I know how you feel we haven't seen a RGM trailer in Daytona for awhile now. When I saw it at Dega last year I pretty much bought everything.
