Atlanta SST in July
I know it's early to be discussing this race, and a couple discussions have been started and deleted already.. I would like to start talking about in order to start making plans about it. I myself have no plans on "pausing or deleting this post".
Info I'm looking for..
1, anyone with knowledge of the stadium area please speak up on anything that might be good to know
2, Hotels? While I would prefer to bring my camper I didn't see any campground listed close to this area. I hate driving after large events so I'm looking for hotels that are within oh...say.. 2miles from the stadium. (wife has a $300 gift card to Mariot Hotels given to her from work). So any info in close hotels would be great.
3, And of course anyone else that's planning on going and wants to do a Planet Robby meet and great would be cool.

Huge letdown! Me, the wife, and her family have been counting down the days since the announcement...glad I waited on booking the room at Motel 6...guess we will go to either the drag races or dirt track that weekend.

It would be in their best interest to get out in from of this from a public relations standpoint. The longer that the inevitable is delayed, the larger the gap in trust/confidence grows. It would be better to craft a nicely worded press release and attempt to put a positive spin on the event cancellations. This elusive approach doesn't seem to fit any sound strategy if the SST has any future at all.
Was there ever an official announcement as to why the Texas event was canceled? Even when a concert is canceled, there usually is a press release that cites illness, poor ticket sales, venue conflict, etc...

Well, lets hope the bleeding was stopped before it became terminal. I think we can all separately define an area of SST where a change in direction was needed to create positive improvements.
I'm hoping to wake up to a well crafted, honest statement about where things rest. Even if that means learning this vision of SST essentially resulted in a lack of judgment. Hopefully it's followed by a new appreciation and understanding for what's involved and what has been neglected. A vow to progress forward, even if that means a temporarily ceasing operations.
We all want the best for SST, but I think we all know deep down the direction it was headed in was not working. Im sure it wasn't lack of effort or hard work, perhaps just not focusing on the right areas.

Kevin, clearly I don't have all the answers, fact of the matter is nobody does because something like this had not been done before.
That said, you do work for them as far as I understand it, and if your willing to tell me the current plan was working, I'd have to say your wrong.
We are talking about an event planned in Jan. or Feb, being canceled seemingly 3 days prior. In combination with the following two events having already been removed. Regardless of reason, or replacements, you understand what perception that could give a person?
Even the purest, diehard fans have concerns about the health of SST. Because we're left to put peices to a puzzle together on our own, because until today nothing official was.
If you want a detailed outline of what I see wrong and ways I would suggest to fix them, I'd be glad to share it with you. I don't need to be employed to help something succeed, send me a PM of your contact info.

I have to agree that the PR sucks but I hope it has nothing to do with a serious illness, maybe they will surprise us by taking a step back and re-focusing on what can be done to improve SST to make it bigger and better. Or RG is out of the country trying to take SST international, they have been very quiet and could tell it is not the usual person posting on face. So I will give the benefit of the doubt before I start judging. I hope they take all critisism and turn it into a positive learning out of all the chit chat going on. Then everyone must remember that there is a partner involved so refoucusing and re grouping could be a possibility. So hopefully they will learn to from this and understand why it is important to have a good PR person even if it was saorry due to bla bla bla but more info to come at a later date.after all who better than the fans to help promote the venue. Then there is a saying bad new travels fast, good news travels slow. I will appologize to all the people who had to beg to get the time off from work to make some of these venues, and the anticipation, excitement that everone was looking foward to. Hopefully like i said there will be good news too. I feel they will do what is right for the series.

Wow.. I am sure glad I was procrastinating on reserving my hotel. (a lot of the reservations I was looking at was a full prepay with not cancellations on the hotel). Really a bummer. Now I get to tell the wife (no fun).
I will keep my eye open for that release today.. see what's going on for sure.
