Terry Labonte can't use his provisional. He would have to be entered as driver of record 2 weeks in advance. Thats the rules for a past champ to be allowed.
So what if its PJ again ? Obviously Robby entering the car as TBA means he is trying to get something else going. Maybe there are drivers who have contacted RG and claim to have funding, only to NOT come up with the $$ in time, so he has to resort to his Plan b's or Plan c's, which may or may not mean PJ. Be happy that RG is going to be in one of the cars. Thats all that matters to me.
I really don't care who is in the car as long as both cars qualify and bring some money home to RGM. Last year the minimum payout was $87,580 to Tony Raines. If Robby can get both cars in the show and keep them in one piece that that is a good weekend if sponsorship cannot be found. I just don't think that anyone should get their hopes up about a mystery driver that may or may not come to fruition. PJ is a good friend of Robby's and a licensed Sprint Cup driver. Nothing wrong with him in the car if there is no sponsor available.
Thanks for the info on Past Champ Provisionals. I did not know that rule.
I just hope he will run the whole race. Bristol is boring enough now that they reconfigured the track, without RG It not worth sitting there 3+ hrs. I will need at least a 12 pack.
RJ Fitzpatrick. He races Canadian Tire Series and he was at the glen in nationwide. TOG I love that Ranger kid. Is there any chance he will be getting any kind of nascar licence soon or does he have nationwide already?
i personally hope that PJ is in the car this weekend. I think with some decent seat time, he could be a competitive driver in this series. Maybe this is a sign of things to come in the future??? (second team????) Free practice time (in race conditions) is invaluable!
