My wonderful wife got us tickets for the Bristol night race, an event I have wanted to attend for years.  We will be coming from Sacramento and we are looking for ideas on where to stay, where to fly into, etc.  Does it make sense to say fly to a larger city and drive in and out on the event day or is it better to stay in Bristol?  Hotel rates are really high that weekend, I see. 

If anyone can offer me any suggestions I would really apprecate any input you could offer.  I do hope Robby races that race, but will enjoy the race anyway.
