Thanks for posting MJ. Brings back lot's of memories of when I was young and first starting to get into car racing. Too sad. We had the pleasure of meeting Chris in 2006. Even at that age he was a goer but then had the patience and gave the time to talk and share. RIP Chris Economaki.

Great pic thanks for sharing it . We were all just talking a few days ago about who would make a good announcer for the SST tv coverage . I can just imagine of we had gotten Mr Economaki . Don't know if he knew a lot about offroad but still would've been great to have such a legendary voice . RIP CHRIS YOU WILL BE MISSED !
Here's the article from his own beloved paper National Speed Sports News

Some recent footage... great guy!

Special edition of Wind Tunnel will air tonight at 11pm eastern .

Mr racing

I met Mr Economaki several times on the CART circuit. He was always welcome by owners and drivers in the paddock. A true journalist and always a gentleman. He will be missed.

Was just thinking how many generations has he influenced . I mean my memories of him are as the CBS announcer for Daytona and seeing him do cameo appearances in the Stroker Ace movie I'm sure there is people older than me that know him from probably the Indy 500 and F-1 , and I'd bet there's youngsters who only know him thru NSSN . All I'm saying is he was TRUELY TIMELESS :~) and yes WJM HE WILL BE MISSED ! I can't wait to watch wind tunnel cause I'm sure Dave Despain will do his usual classy act and I wanna know more about him .

Chris was big on the grass roots of motorsports.Thank you. Godspeed Chris Economaki.

Wow ! Wow is all I can say . I knew Chris was legendary , I just didn't know just how DEEP ROOTED that legend Is . Watching that special was like a walk thru the ages . Not just the history of NASCAR Indy and F-1 but of racing as a whole . Mike you mentioned grassroots racing , I see now what you meant . Hearing his stories of midgets at the local fairs and how he could make them sound like you we're at Daytona itself we're amazing . All during the show drivers , owners , promotors , reporters , just everyone involved with racing tweeted in . Some of the biggest off the top of my head were Jeff Gordon , Tony Stewart , Mario Andretti , John Force & tons others . Telling of memories and stories of Chris .

REST IN PEACE MR ECONOMAKI YOU ARE A TRUE LEGEND OF RACING !

Been to Indy many times in the good old days, met Chris E. many times, class guy in the pits would talk with fans as well as race team people, remember when Bernstien (sp) was there and after asking Kenny questions turns and there i am asking for autograph, no problem.....nice guy
