Chase will go to top 10, plus 2 biggest winners: Twelve NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers will make the Chase for the Sprint Cup in 2011 -- the top 10 in points and the two drivers not in the top 10 who have the most race victories in NASCAR's 26-race regular season. NASCAR Chairman and CEO Brian France goes is expected to confirm that arrangement, along with a points system that gives 43 points to race winners and then one-point increments down to just one point for the last-place finisher. Each driver who leads a lap will get one bonus point, and regular-season race winners are expected to get two or three Chase bonus points for each victory. There will be no knockout rounds in the Chase, as NASCAR had hinted at earlier.(SPEED)(1-26-2011

zoom :what are you talking about? this new point system works for consistency and wins.... starting 15 or so races won't get you into the top 20...no way no how....
Dude. Did you just plagarize Jayski?

Mixed feelings about this. They should create a point system that rewards top 5 or top 10 finishes. All this does is give teams with twisted cars a reason to stay out on the track. Does anyone have the time to run the numbers on this one to see what the 2010 points standings would have looked like by using this formula? I don't.
Jayski will have comparisions up soon I would think. Love your avatar. We can't see that photo enough.
Didn't see this on Jayski.
haha, will be another year Jr. nation sits a chase out.
I am sure I will get sh*t for this from some people but I think the chase is the best thing in Nascar! Take this past season for example, Why would people want to see going into the last race Kevin Harvick already clinched the championship with a 225 point lead when there can be multiple drivers within 50 points? Saying there should be no playoff system is like saying the Super Bowl should be the Patriots and the Falcons just because they have the best records in the regular season.
If the chase weren't in effect last year, Hravick probably wouldn't have clinched before the last race. Everyones strategy would have been different. Comparing one point system against another based upon a season run with one of those systems isn't accurate. Strategy changes based on the rules.
The chase aint bad, could use a little twick here and there, also this aint foozeball, it be called racing....
I was just comparing how people say the points shouldn't reset so it's basically saying that the regular season teams or driver in this case should be the champion but really like there is with the chase there should be a playoff system.
This isn't football. It's racing. Why does everyone want NASCAR to be football? If you like football, go watch football. NASCAR grew to record numbers under the old system and the millions and millions of fans that attended the races and watched them on TV loved every minute of it. Just sayin'.
Even if you don't compare it to any sport, Nascar without a doubt needs a playoff system. If Nascar thinks the TV ratings and attendance are bad now then I would hate to see what they were if going into the last race of the season with the champion already crowned.
Lol. They did that for 30 years and the sport grew rapidly. Why do you not understand that?
