Could you just imagine what Nascar would have done to RG if he did what Gilliland did to Montoya? First of all, Gilligan turned Montoya at a very high rate of speed, sending Montoya dam near straight into the fence head first. RG would have been burned at the stake in the neighborhood courtyard for all to see! I just shake my head sometimes...

You are so right. They play favorites.
I think Robbys penalty would have been exactly the same as Gillilands. The situation in Canada resulted in a one race suspension, and that involved not heading the black flag, spinning the leader out, continuing to finish the race, then celebrating the non victory and trying to drive into victory lane.

Its sad people think Gilliland somehow is a nascar favorite. His penatly is in line with past situations. Get over it. Now if Junior had done what David did, and Nascar didnt park Junior, then you have a legit complaint.

Also, much of Robbys issues with sanctioning bodies (ie Nascar) is due to past situations and attitude issues. He is not completely innocent when it seems Nascar is coming down harder on him. Also, no one that is an RG fan should have any complaint about Nascars actions, without that penalty reversal at Daytona, RGM would not currently be in the top 35...
The penalty was overturned by a third-party sanctioning body that has nothing to do with Nascar making your argument invalid. Also it is weel documented he was finishing the race "under protest" Suppose Nascar overturned the penalty and he would have followed orders and ended up 11th or whatever instead of the winner.
That was the first thing I thought of when I watched the wreck. Robby would not be in Phoenix this weekend and might have been taking the rest of the year off. I can't beleive NASCAR is not penelizing Gilliand further.

I wonder if it would have been a driver on "probation", what NASCAR would have done?
Easy there Matt! I wasnt picking on Nascar or anybody else for that matter. Just making an observation and conversation...Nor was I comparing Gilligan and RG in any sence, or the Canada inncodent. We all know RG is his own man, and like all of us, he has his own opinions and is not afraid to speak his mind. And I dont agree that RG's penalty would have been the same as Gilligans, it would have been worse, and we all know that because as you mentioned, "past issues."
I wonder if Gilliland would be punished more if Montoya was hurt in that crash?
My guess is, if Montoya was hurt there might have been further sanctions. And, some of the reason I feel for further sanctions is that they would make an example of Gilliand if Montoya was hurt. Lets all be glad nobody was hurt though.
I am taking it easy, I just said I think its sad, especially when Nascar gave RGM a gimme at Daytona.

I still think his penalty would have been the same, hopefully we wont have to find out in the next few weeks. :)
Cool. I was glad Nascar helped out with the Daytona nose issue. Have you really seen the two noses in question up close?
I have actually, and they are almost identical. Basically, the only difference is the faint molded-in contours for the grill and headlight stickers. The nose they were supposed to use was originally the Dodge Avenger (4 door) nose that Dodge campaigned for the first year of the COT (partial schedule), hence why the headlightand grill outlines were slightly different from the Charger stickers they are using this year.

I still dont think it was RGMs fault, but that should have been a clear indicator that GEM did not have there stuff together haha!
Agreed on the GEM thing. And like you I've also seen the two noses. Its kinda funny when we look at them. Just as you said, the differences are very minor. Its not like they were acid dipping sheetmetal or anything!!!
Let's just all say it was a Dick move and move on .Nascar has their own rules for who's hot this week.I know it sucks......but it's just the way it is...............
