Robby Gordon to Race TORC Series PRO 2 in Season Finale at Crandon

CRANDON, Wis. – For the second time in two events, a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series star is going to race in the Traxxas TORC Series Presented by AMSOIL. Last week it was Kyle Busch making his off-road debut; this weekend, it’s proven short course driver Robby Gordon returning to the “Big House” to race in the PRO 2WD class.

Gordon, a three-time winner in NASCAR’s top series and a Cup Series team owner, raced in the World Championship race last year. After starting on the pole, he led several laps and was poised for the win, but a late-race incident took him out of contention. He finished with style, however, after getting hit near the AMSOIL Finish Line, crossing the stripe in reverse.

“I am looking forward to competing this weekend for the second year in a row at Crandon,” said Gordon, who nearly won the NASCAR Nationwide Series race this past weekend in Montreal. “In 2009, we qualified on the pole and finished sixth bouncing back and forth between Atlanta and Crandon.

“In 2010, I am excited to bring the Speed Factory and Polaris PRO 2 to compete for the entire race weekend activities. Crandon is place that I love to come to race as the track is wide and fast and provides plenty of opportunity for exciting racing.”

This weekend, champions in all the PRO and Sportsman divisions will be crowned and race fans can see it live via online streaming at TORCSeries.com courtesy of GoPro Cameras and eBay Motors. All of the racing action will also be archived for later viewing at UStream.tv.

In addition, “The Off Road Championship,” the TORC Series’ original television program, premieres Thursday on Discovery’s HD Theater at 8 p.m. (check local listings). The 26 one-hour programs follow the drivers of the series both on and off the track during the 2010 season and will provide viewers with a televised racing experience they have never seen before.

Those with HD Theater may want to catch “The Off Road Championship,” tonight at 8pm ET.
HD Theater is airing episode 1 tonight and at a number of different times over the next 7 days. Then starting 9/9 it will broadcast episode 2 but Robby's name is not listed as one of the episode's featured drivers. As it is a multipart series, watch the episode guides if you have the channel.
