Heard that some teams aren't getting contracts renewed with GM & Ford. We know that cut backs were made and some teams are having to make financial adjustments. GM with it's Chevrolet brand will continue it's relationship with RCR & Hendricks (which includes Stewart-Haas), the odd team out appears to be EGR (DEI, Inc & Ganassi team). Ford will continue to back Roush, but not Yates & Wood Bros. (They will get all their support from Roush). Dodge has not made a decision yet leaving Penkse & RPM on hold.
Hearing several drivers & teams aren't happy with their current performance and see matters only get worse next season with the lack of factory support. One of those teams is Paul Menards. Paul brought sponsor Menards to Yates and currently is in bottome 3 of drivers to compete in every race this season. Martin Truex seems to have already secured his deal and will move to MWR. Ganassi will likely shop Montoya & his sponsorship to a team with an opening that receives factory support. "When you look at what happened with JTG & Marcos Ambrose, it makes sense to be with a team that receives support. Those guys would have had a huge hill to climb staying where they were," said Ganassi.
Looking at 2010, the teams that will have factory backing are:
Chevy: RCR & Hendrick (Stewart Haas & JR Motorsports will be satellite teams of Hendrick)
Dodge: No word yet.(If they support it will be Penske & RPM)
Ford: Roush (Yates & Wood Bros will be satellite teams of Roush)
Toyota: JGR, MWR (JTG will be a satellite team to MWR), RGM, & Germain Racing (#13 part time)
Teams looking: Red Bull Racing (contract up with Toyota and looking to get support from Hendrick or RCR), EGR (Chevy did not renew their contract), Bob Jenkins Racing (#34 satellite with EGR), #36 Tommy Baldwin Racing (no current support), #66 Prism (no current support), #71 (ERG support from EGR), #87 Nemecheck (no current support),
The biggest 2 drivers looking have sponsorship (Paul Menard & Menards) and Jaun Pablo Montoya & Target). One team that has caught alot of people's attention is the #71 team and driver David Gilliland, but sponsorship seems to be their biggest struggle in landing with a supported team.
