Did you see what Bruton said?

...on the Nascar hub? He is working with the folks at Indy to push the start time earlier and could possibly offer 20 million to the race driver that could win both in one day. Do you think that would be some added incentive for RG to give it a go again? I hope this happens, it would be great for both leagues to have some back and forth. You could potentially see RG Smoke, John Andretti, Danica, Franchitti and maybe even Paul Tracy give it a shot.

Now if he had $20 million and would give a team $20 million to compete to win one race in the IRL, one race in NASCAR and the Dakar Rally. I think Robby would have a really great shot. But I guess Bruton is only interested in setting up one of those carnival games which can't be won. And, Penske, Ganassi and Hendricks are too smart to take the bait.

There is n doubt in my mind that Robby would do it with the best equipment for Indy - pretty sure he'd like another shot.

Unfortunately the best equipment in the IRL is only in the hands of three teams right anymore. Ganassi, Penske and Andretti. And out of those the only one that would even consider RG is Andretti. Chip and Roger just don't have a reason to bother using a guy that last won an OW race some 15 years ago.

Honestly, I'm very suprised something didnt work out with either Andretti, or Penske. Being the sponsorship $ was there, my thinking was most difficult hurdle had been cleared. I thought w/RG's fam connection to RHR, & his semi-recent performance ties w/Penske it was just a matter of time before an announcement was made which one was supplying a car. Perhaps Monster's sponsor $$$ wasn't quite enought for an Andretti/Penske ride. That would explian the attempt to make something happen w/Walker. Oh well, I'll qoute all my Cub fan friends..."maybe next year".

I believe Monster decided not to fund the effort after all was said and done, so there were no sponsorship dollars. They are not convinced it is worth the money (and unfortunately they are probably right).

And RHR needs the find sponsorship dollars for himself. The face of IZOD/Indycar may be done after Indy (or is it Texas?) if nothing comes along last minute.

I don't think Penske will ever run a car for Robby at Indy regardless of the money he brings. Andretti yes, Penske no. Penske rides are not for sale, it is just his way.
