Did anyone see the Martinsville arrow car on ebay? How do you make something like that?where do you get decals? Any info would be great. Robby drives so many cars it would be cool to make some of them .

I just put a big post about being careful with this stuff in the diecast page. I used to make cars and I wont do it anymore unless its a name swap. Even then I buy top quality paper and spray them with chromaclear, using my paint gun...not a spray can. You guys who drop 150+ on those things are wasting your money.

Your putting alot of trust that the guy making top dollar on those cars is taking that money and buying top dollar materials.

Those decals are way to transparent to stand up, you can tell by looking at them. No matter how many coats of clear coat he adds, they are still going to crack and turn yellow. The cracking is actually the decal drying and separating, it happened on early cars to the point they switched to Tampo style that they still use today.

The fact that car wasn't painted Day Glo tells me he doesn't have a air gun and he is using spray cans, or he didnt want to pay for day glo in the can (special order+expensive stuff). Again, think about what I just said, not wanting to buy the top dollar materials. If the guy is knowingly buying the wrong color paint and painting it anyway to save a buck, what quality waterslide paper and inks do you think he is using?

This guy leaves "Roush Racing" on the Camping World cars he makes, its just a Jamie McMurray car he uses acetone to remove the decals on and throws on Robbys decals. That acetone will seep into the paint and eventually it will ruin it. I am shocked he hasn't bought a McMurray color chrome and made a "Color Chrome Camping World" - - (Example - 270375104461).
So where do I get decals? NASCAR decals are easy to find but Jim Beam and Menards??
Stop dogging the guy out.

No it is not professionally done. No he may not have used the best paint money can buy. So it didn't run off an assembly line mechanically crafted.

It is hand made. He does not try to disguise it or trick you. He created a robby car. I think he did an awesome job. If I had the money, I'd buy it. Cause hell we don't get much variety in the memorabilia department.
Maybe you are ok with spending alot of money for a diecast that is the wrong color or in a few years will look like crap because they used cheap decals and/or clearcoat or has decals for a team that Robby doesn't drive for. That's your business.

However, what TeamMMR, Bigzoom, and myself said was for the benefit of those who want a diecast that is closer to what was run on the track and will still look good 3 years, 5 years, 10 years or more down the road...especially when paying as much as some of these custom builders want.

Me, personally, if I am going to shell out $50, $75, $100, $150 or more for a custom, I want it to be a very good quality custom from someone I know who used the best stuff available and doesn't skimp on the job. Which, is why I don't own any diecasts done by any of those custom builders on e-bay. You may be happy with a car like the "Arrow" car on e-bay that is the wrong color, but I would not be.
First off, I think you have "dogging the guy out" and informing each other mixed up. If some dude was making fake sheetmetal (been done before), selling fake autographs (a constant issue), or finding some other way to rip off a fellow RG fan.....Im glad we can chat this out as friends / fans. We share opinions and advise to become more informed as buyers. I shutter to think how much the 44 guys in that group spend on RG stuff each month. This month alone I know I personally was around $750.

My 15 years and 10x the investment into Mark Martin collectibles (which by the way was featured in Beckett 2005!) I never once meant a group of people this close knit. The best part is, we can share information, share pictures and stories and be cool about it when we outbid each other on stuff.

If that guy wants to come in here and defend his product, so be it. Until that point, and prolly after it, I will continue to think its outrageous to pay a guy $150+ for a car that I have no idea (from a material standpoint) how quality its made.

I have a hard time thinking a Non-RG fan is bidding on that stuff, and I have a even tougher time thinking that RG fan isnt on this board reading this. With the 2009 cars canceled, customs will be the only route for guys to get them. Personally, Im glad we got this out in the open. Maybe not for myself Bigzoom or Mario, but maybe the 4-5 guys who didn't realize the cars could look horrid in a few years.
I think the arrow 1/24 is one of the best i have seen all the small sponsors are in the right spot on the car and it looks cool. I would not spend that much on a die-cast car from race I want to forget but I'll give the guy credit.
Does anyone know where I can get the 2008 operation homefront decals? I've checked ebay and they have squat. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
There Are No Homefront Decals Right Now . The Arrow Car Looks Pretty Good But You Have To Have The Right Color !
I dont post here often but i was hopin to add a little insight as well. These are a couple ive built using plastic kits. The Jim Beam black has screen printed decals and the Camping world car has Alps or laser inkjet type printed decals. Obviously the screen printed ones are better quality but its impossible to get screen printed Robby decals done. I got lucky and won these on ebay. The laser printed ones do fill a void for some of the more obscure schemes and one offs. Sadly if its not Dale jr your probably going to have to search to find anything. I plan on doing every scheme Robby has ever driven, right down to his Publix car.I dont know if ive helped answer any questions, but hopefully ive helped shed a little light on it.

dang dude (suicidesolution07) those are some fine cars!! I wish I had the skill and time to build stuff like that. When you build more please post the pix here
Sure thing. Im a perfectionist when it comes to my heros ,so i get way to nit picky about all the small details. When i get around to it i may attempt Robbys verizon Fusion. Thanks alot for the positive feedback. Not alot of folks get to see much of Robby in the modeling world so im tryin to get as much out there as possible.
