Does anyone find it funny Carl Edwards only gets probation for 3 races.... Yet Robby's incident at Montreal was far less dramatic and dangerous and he gets suspended for a race?? I don't get it... I would think Edwards wouldn't mind the suspension because AFLAC pays when you're out of work.

NASCAR is starting to feel like our government. Only cares about the big businesses and could care less about the little guy.

Carl probably only was put on probation for driving down pit road backward in defiance of being parked.

NASCAR has drawn the line in the sand, cant wait until that line is erased when something similar happens to a lesser tier driver, but at that point NASCAR may really have other issues to deal with aka a mutiny (one can hope) if they alter things significantly (at least for this season)
This news really didn't surprise anyone did it? We all know what would've happened if it was Robby involved and not Carl. So, we move on and pray that Robby and all of his hard working people get a break of their own. I'm sure Roger Penske has given the green light for his guys to "have at it." Don't look to far into the future on that, Bristol is in two weeks.
To keep it short and sweet, when someone figures out nascars fines, penaltys, probations I'm all ears.Like to hear what Carl Long would think of this ruling.
Yeah, but if you didn't bring a part-time driver in a "no points" race to his knees, then how could you assure the fans that everyone is treated equally and the sport is fair. You know if this had been Robby instead of Carl, it would have been a 3 race suspension, $100,000 fine, 50 driver's points and 50 owner's points and three months of everyone interviewed on Fox and Speed explaining how this can't be tolerated -all the while five similar incidents occur with elite teams and the only comment is "that's racing."
You got that right!
Can you say "nascrap" pay-off?
I agree with TOG, "have at it" means exactly what happened, until the Aileron took him for a ride. They missed that part. I'm surprised Robby didn't fly as fast as he came around with the tire blown. I think they were sending a message prior to this incident as well with almost no penalty points so far this year. When you get in that car you know what can happen, and when you sit front row your going to get muddy. If you worried don't sit so close. Remove the wing. I also thought the unwritten rule was bash him back on the next lap get it over with and next week is another race. Let em race! Let em fight!
Following that incident we asked the driver of the 99 to visit us in the hauler, and we made it very clear to him that these actions were not acceptable and did go beyond what we said back in January about putting the driving back in the hands of the drivers. We believe the driver of the 99 understands our position at this point.

I think many people want to throw this into 'drivers have at it', but it's outside of that.... 3 weeks, my thoughts, why even bother. A sit down with Jesus meeting with 2 drivers and owners to make sure it doesn't go any further is only protecting sponsors and teams, TV/tracks and trying to keep fans interested. Too late, interest is gone, you can't bring back your core fans and the new fans don't give a crap!
I truly think drivers know Carl's real colors, this just adds more to their little notebooks.

'Have at it boys', does anyone really think that's going to change pre-chase racing?
Yeah, our government totally only cares about big business. That's why they are seizing control of big businesses left and right and dictating them. Oh, it also must be why they are taking money from big businesses and redistributing it to "the little guy". Totally. Right.

As far as Carl Edwards goes, this is utter bullshit. Were that Robby he'd have been suspended. Were that anyone other than NASCAR's favorites (JJ, J Gordon, Carl, Logano, JR, Kyle Busch, Hamlin, et al) then they'd be suspended, or worse. I'm incredibly irate over this bullshit. It's a sham.
Respectfully, please leave the politics off of this site.
NASCAR's saying that Carl pushed the limit. But now that they set a limit, the next offender won't get off as easy. Probation means nothing at all in this sport. Ask Knaus. He had repeated violations while on probation and got to keep the championship trophy.

It's always been about who you are in this sport. Ask Spencer what he thought about being suspended for a race and Kurt Busch ending up in Victory Lane. Sharpie was his sponsor on the 97, and the races in Bristol the next weekend. They shoulda sat them both, or neither. But noooo...... My only surprise is that everyone here seems so surprised!
I guess if we are going to have to beat and bang and move cars out of the way and into the garage to get a decent finish at Bristol, now is the time!! At least they won't be going airborne. Add the 49 to the mix and have at it, boys!
Last night on NASCAR Race Hub they had a trivia question. Who was the last driver in NASCAR to be suspended a race? The answer: Our Idol Robby Gordon!!!!! I saw him in Talledega at his Hauler last year and told him that those burnouts in Montreal where awesome for us fans who were watching ready to destroy something for that Bull Crap black flag.
Suck It NASCAR!!!!!!!
