I received confirmation today that I am one of the lucky 200 to get tickets to the movie screening. This should be a blast, who's going to be there with me?

Gave mine away too, dad had a stroke not too long ago. Hope everyone has fun
It's looking like I'm going to have to give mine back also. To many logistical problems getting back and forth from the track {Hey Robby can we catch a ride with you?}
come on...you will have plenty of time...ride with us!
If you know a good way to get to the track, we'll follow you :-), otherwise we might do the shuttle (see below)
I plan on parking on the backstretch, it is much easier/quicker. It is also easier to get out after the race. I plan on going to the movie, parking on the backstretch, taking the tram to the souvenir trailer, and then dropping the stuff off at my car...and then back to the track. I think I will have plenty of time...I mean it won't be the normal relaxing/tailgating NASCAR day....but who cares, this is a pretty cool event.
We haven't been there before but it looks like you can easily catch one of the 2 shuttle buses and park downtown for a small fee if you don't want to negotiate the traffic. Don't let the traffic scare you off :-)! We are going to do a recon on Friday night and then decide whether to take the shuttle or attempt to park.

=============================
Park and Ride from Downtown Richmond Coliseum - FREE SHUTTLE 2011

The Richmond Coliseum parking area at North 7th Street in downtown Richmond will be open and offering free shuttle rides to fans beginning at 1:00pm on NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race days. The shuttle service back to the Coliseum parking area resumes immediately after the conclusion of the Sprint Cup Series race from the track's main entrance at the corner of Laburnum Avenue and Richmond-Henrico Turnpike. The shuttle is free but a $6 parking fee applies at the Coliseum lot, which is conveniently located less than five minutes from the intersections of I-95 and I-64.

Park and Ride from the Showplace FREE SHUTTLE 2011

On NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race days, fans can also park their cars and RV's at The Showplace and take a free shuttle to Richmond International Raceway. The Showplace is conveniently located less than three miles from Richmond International Raceway at 3000 Mechanicsville Turnpike and is just ¼-mile off of I-64 at exit 192.

The cost for parking at The Showplace on NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race days is just $5 per car and $25 per RV. The Showplace parking lot will open at 11:00 am and offer a complimentary shuttle to and from the track beginning at Noon. The shuttle service back to The Showplace parking area resumes immediately after the conclusion of the Sprint Cup Series race from the track's main entrance at the corner of Laburnum Avenue and Richmond-Henrico Turnpike.
Nice find Karen, I hadn't started my research for getting from the theater to the track, but this sounds like a great option!
There is also a traffic etc. discussion here in the Richmond race recon (the shuttle gets the best review):

My wife and I are coming up from Hilton Head SC.
We're also trying to figure out the best way to get back and forth from the movie to the track. Maybe a car pool would work out? Also does anyone know if you get the free FastFive shirt if you buy stuff from the hauler or does that only apply if you order online?
$25 or more from the hauler also gets you a Shirt...( L or XL only )
