I was just going to start this thread, scary!! But you are right, Clint should be a little nervous. But with RCR knowing Clint will have qualify, I bet Clint will grab one of the top two spots based on speed. RCR has never had to qualify before, so I believe they concentrated on race set-up. Just like Robby does now.

Thats the thing about Daytona, I love the drama of filling the field. Especially since Robby is not part of that drama.

Kvapil will have no points to fall back on in getting into the first five races. His points from 2008, when he finished 23rd in the driver standings, went to Paul Menard, who brought sponsorship to the team.

“There’s an easy way around that – we’ll just go down there and win the pole [at Daytona],” Kvapil said. “There obviously are no guarantees, but we have a great speedway program. We proved that at Talladega last fall by winning the pole.”

The owner points standing was also at #23; I'm assuming that those also transferred to Menard.

The more entries there are the more interesting the 125's will be on thursday before the race... with the possibility of over 10 cars going home the race should be pretty competitive!!

yes it will be Brad Keselewski in the 09 Micousekee with Hendrick engines...he'll be a factor (he's running the foirst 10 races). Front Row Joe can get the job done too, as can Mike Skinner, etc etc etc

We're in...that's all that matters.
Most of the newbies are planning to start and park. That won't be a factor in top 35 points.
Robby needs to worry about racing 15 teams... be the best of the 15 and let the chips fall.

I was just pointing this out as there were MANY posts when we were on the bubble late last year that it wouldn't matter anyway in or out.... I begged to differ back then and here's why is all! :)

I'm more excited about the race to get in the field than the actual racing for the win this year. It's gonna be the same super teams running for the win but all these new teams with no money are gonna keep things interesting. The Cup series has been so boring the past few years. If the media will actually cover these little teams it should make it a lot more interesting to watch.

I just don't understand why they don't change the top 35 rule for the 500; it's the only race of the year that has a 2-step qualifying process. If you have to "race" your way in, then let 'em race their way in. Remember in 2005 when Robby finished 6th in his 150 & didn't make the 500? I was there...not a good memory!
As far a Bowyer goes, RCR is capable of landing the pole at Daytona - Burton got it in '06. As long as Clint qualifies near the front, & avoids disaster in the 150, he'll have a better shot at making it in than most of the pt teams.

If I was Clint Bowyer I would also be pissed about missing the shootout, all the work Clint did last year getting in the chase and then Casey gets the car for the shootout. Just does not seem right.
