Glendale, Ariz. (April 10, 2013) – The highly anticipated Inaugural season of SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks launched April 6 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. Robby Gordon over came many obstacles on the way to putting the #7 SPEED Energy / MAPEI / Toyo Tires stadium truck on the podium, with a hard earned third place finish.

The SPEED Energy / MAPEI / Toyo Tires stadium truck was on the gas from the start of qualifying on Friday, to the conclusion of the 18-lap main event on Saturday night. Gordon rounded out the 3-lap qualifying session second behind Brawley, Calif. native, Justin Lofton. The second place qualifying effort placed the #7 in the sixth starting spot for the heat race after the inversion.

Starting last in the heat race, Gordon wasted no time getting to the front, he quickly picked off truck by truck following the tracks of the ultra quick Greg Adler, of Manhattan Beach, Calif. Gordon crossed the finish line of the 8-lap race with a strong runner-up finish behind Adler.

After starting the SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Truck final in the sixth position, Gordon battled through adversity on multiple occasions of the 18-lap race making multiple stops in the hot pits to fix the damage acquired from early race contact. Working his way through the field with a battered and beaten truck, Gordon drove past a flipped over P.J. Jones on the final lap to put the SPEED ENERGY / MAPEI / TOYO Tires truck on the podium with a hard fought third place finish behind winner Rob MacCachren of Las Vegas, Nev., and runner-up Justin Matney of Bristol, Va.

The next race for Robby Gordon, and the Inaugural season of SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks continues Sunday afternoon, April 21, in Long Beach, Calif. As the 600 HP Stadium SUPER Trucks take to the streets of Long Beach, for a high flying smoke show that will surely give the IRL Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach fans something to remember.

Nice work on the 3rd place finish. Was hoping to see a Robby Vs. RobMac battle but Robby kinda got caught up behind some of the carnage early to be able to give RobMac a run. Plenty of season left to see that happen.

Robby was playing it safe. He kept taking the 1st jump crossover to avoid traffic. I think he was racing at 85%

"I think he was racing at 85%" I feel the same way, but I am waiting to see the broadcast to be sure. RG has many hours behind the wheel of an SST and most of the others didn't get in one until Phoenix.

If you look at Jaci's picture she posted you can see the damaged front end on the 7. I think he either hurt the truck or was woried he would hurt the truck after that conact. I kept looking at the front end as he went buy and stuff was bent I just don't know if it slowed the truck down.
