Per Jayski - Carl Long Loses Appeal

NASCAR driver #46-Carl Long says he has lost his appeal of a 12-race suspension and penalty. The National Stock Car Racing Commission denied Long's appeal at a hearing Tuesday, the driver said. The commission isolated Long's suspension to the Sprint Cup Series, meaning he can find work in one of the sport's lower levels. However, Long's full-time job is working with the Front Row Motorsports #34 Chevy in the Cup series. The commission also told Long the $200,000 fine levied against crew chief Charles Swing would not fall to Long if Swing can't pay it. Long was penalized for having an illegal engine at Lowe's Motor Speedway last month. The 12-race suspension, 200-point penalty and $200,000 fine are NASCAR records. He said he plans to research how to go about appealing the penalty further. "I'm now suspended only from the Cup garage for 12 weeks," Long told ESPN.com. "At the end of year, though, they're still sitting there with their hands out. So my crew chief still doesn't get his 2010 license if it hasn't been paid. I'm very disappointed in them."

Long's penalty is so ridiculous
I bet if the tables were turned and it was Chad Knauss and Jimmy Johnson doing the same thing as Carl and Charles, it would be a $50,000 fine and Chad would be put on probation until the end of the year.
I think it's excessive. As I recall the last time someone had an oversize engine in this series was in the '90's and it was Junior Johnson, his fine was, I believe about half of Carl Long's and his suspension was about four races. But that was before the COT.
What Nascar is doing to him is ridiculous. Once Robby loses his appeal, I'll be tuning out of nascar for a while. I'd like to see Carl Long continue racing. I support the underdogs and hate the primadonnas.

I gave 25 bucks to Carl's racing team because I'd like to see him around in the future. It's an amount that I could care less if it goes to the wrong cause, but I'm hoping it goes toward the penalty. I urge you to do the same. Just pick an amount that you don't care if you ever see again and help out this fledgling team. http://www.carl-long.com/

Oh BTW, F#*@ Nascar!!!!!!!
Does NASCAR remember that this was an All Star race? No points were awarded, so he should not be fined points. I can see a monetary fine, but it seems a little hefty for a small team.
It is outragious what Na$car is doing to this guy. Utterly despicable to levy a fine that they know he cannot pay. Another way to screw the little guy. I'm beginning to wonder if these bigger teams just pay a monthly "security" fee to keep things "safe in the neighborhood", if ya know what I mean. Maybe I should start watching IRL instead....
Nascar, what a bunch of dickheads.
This is such bull shit hello Mc Flyy nazzzzzzzzzzzzzz carrrrrrrrrrrrrrr $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
