Richard Petty Motorsports’ #10, which is turning into the #44 driven by AJ Allmendinger. Allmendinger, who originally thought he was going to be in the 500 and now most likely won’t be locked in, also could lose a spot in the Budweiser Shootout if Hornish can get top-35 points and be one of the top six Dodges in the field. Word is Hornish will take over points from the #22 Bill Davis Racing team. Which means Davis will have to have interest or ownership in the #77 team.

Several owners with points are working last minute deals to transfer points to other teams. The only sticking point is they must have an interest or ownership of the team they transfer points to and can not own more than 4 teams + 1 aspiring rookie.

Bill Davis & Earnhardt Ganassi are holding the cards right now.

The problem is... RCR already has 4 cars... that's the sticky point.
Unless NASCAR re-writes the rules.... again.
Yes, they have 4 teams, but they can allow someone with points to have interest or ownership...like Bill Davis did with the #77...

Your point is correct, but the process would work in the other direction. Not RCR buying a team, a team with points buying into "so it will be stated" into the #33 and transfering their points.
But what other Owner/team, out there is in a position to do this with RCR? EGR already has four teams (now tha ANdretti is running the 500), so they cannot have ownership with RCR with one of their two remaining extra teams points as it would violate the 5 car rule.

Penske beat RCR to the 22...Bowyer is SOOL....

Davis was just on TMD on SIrius, and he said Nascar DOES NOT ALLOW Owner Point sales, hence why Triad got everything but from BDR> Since Daiv si now an owner with Penske, it was NOT a sale. He jsut happens to own thos owner pts from 2008 and can use them for a car that he now has ownership stake in.

Jayski's page, even with the Hornish move, has DInger and Ambrose locked in as of now...I suppose that could change if Nasacr allows any hinky business with EGR transferring the 01 and 41 pts...but we'll see.
Loopholes... always loopholes.
this point thing is out of control i need a score card and a pencil with a big fucken eraser to keep up with this point thing.
why cant they just go out to the track and the fastest cars get to go racing and the slow cars go home????
Because that would be too easy and it would cut down on the sales of erasers LOL

That is the only thing that makes sense which is probably why they don't do it.
From what I understand, Teressa Earnhardt can buy into RCR and transfer points from the #01 team

EGR has only 3 full time teams. Ganassi only has interest in the Andretti team (transfering the #41 points).
If that was the case EGR could be an 8 team behemoth by that logic....
Jeff Gordon Owns the 48...so Rick Hendrick can add a 5th car and not run afoul fo the 5 car limit?
What Teresa has an interest in and what Gnassi has an interest in all coutns towards the 4 car limit.
Remember, no one person can own more than TWO cars, butif you are under the umbrella of the organization, all those cars count towards the 4 car limit.

Nascar is allowing this shady techical alliance to qualify for transferring of owner points...they cannot have their cake and eat it too and not count that car as one of the 4 for the car limit. The Addretti car counts as EGR's 4th car. You cannot be the recipient of Owners Points from a team and not be considered part of that team for the 4 car purposes.

I don't agree with that, as a techincal alliance should not be enough to allow top 35 owner pts to transfer (at least Bill Davis and Roger Penske did it legitimately), but that seems to be the bed Nascar has made.

EGR is also trying to to transfer Owner pts to lock in Keselewski as he would be a 5th car running as a rookie exemption. This is the pinnacle of tomASSfoolery and should not be allowed under any circumstances.
In addition Keselewski is slated to run ten races for the #09 and the rule states:

"Teams are permitted to enter a fifth car for a maximum of seven races for a rookie to get the driver familiar with Sprint Cup competition."

Since there is no way to police this properly as if a 5th team runs more than 7 races the damage to the team that already lost out a secure spot to start the season is already done, it just should not be allowed period.
BREAK OUT THE LAWYERS!!
Honestly. My guess is AJ would rather give Sam the shootout and let AJ stay locked in for the 500.
