People just don't get it, for these reasons and to rebuild the US economy - BUY DOMESTIC PRODUCTS - and that doesn't stop at cars and trucks. Company owners - think real hard before you outsource your manufacturing to countries outside of the US. It may seem cheaper , but we will all pay for your cheapness eventually.

A minor clarification: Audi is owned by Volkswagen, so they should not appear on the list separatley as a zero-contributor. That doesn't change the point of the article, however.

In 1993, Mercedes-Benz agreed to build a plant in Alabama after receiving $253 million in state and local tax breaks, worker training and land improvement. In 1999, Honda agreed to build a plant in Alabama after receiving $268 million in perks. A 2001 deal with Toyota left the company with $29 million in taxpayer gifts. The state of Alabama also gave Hyundai $263 million in tax breaks, worker training, road improvements and other incentives in 2004 to build a manufacturing plant outside Montgomery.
Tennessee enticed Volkswagen to build a manufacturing plant in Chattanooga by offering $577 million in tax breaks, training and land preparation. In 2005, the state lured Nissan to relocate its headquarters from southern California by offering $197 million in incentives.
In 1992, South Carolina snagged a BMW plant for $150 million in taxpayer giveaways.
In 2003, Mississippi gave Nissan $363 million to build a manufacturing plant in Canton.
In Georgia, a still-under-construction Kia plant received breaks estimated to be $415 million.
Granted some of these deals occurred after 9/11, but that's over $2.5 billion and counting in taxpayer gifts to foreign automakers. With the exception of Hyundai's $300K, they gave nothing but condolences.
Here's something else to think about in light of today's announced $15.4 loans to GM and Chrysler: The most vocal state politicians that are opposed to an automaker bailout are from, you guessed it, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, Mississippi and Georgia.

Most of these Tax Breaks did not involve in the State for coming up with cash, the roads would be made up after the new tax revenue from the local employees buying homes and Sales tax and State Tax with the extra take home pay to there employees.

You can go to www.toyota.com and enter any of these words; philanthropy, charity, or donations, to see just what Toyota puts back into our local communities. Toyota spends millions on educational, environmental, safety, diversity, and community programs.

This supposed CNN story is a hoax-go to snopes.com to get more current info. Honda Motor Corp and most of your locally
owned Honda dealer's are generous to local and national orginizations.
PS .I called BULL SHIT then I first read this story as I still remember 9/11 and how much the dealership I work for sent to
The American Red Cross and American Honda Motor Co. matched our donation.
