Say it isn't so! Thomas Bowles is reporting that Bruton may try to move the Infineon date to Vegas. Wouldn't make much sense to me to cut out the nations 5th largest market, and particularly when Auto Club will be down to one race next season.
dude...Kansas is getting a race next year. Everyone is reporting that Auto Club is getting chopped. It's a done deal.
Secondly, if Vegas gets the Infineon race, it won't be run in June. It would be a Chase race. I for one think this is a bluff. I'm surprised SMI hasn't bought Dover out to give a second date back to Atlanta and give a second date for Vegas. Dover Motorsports Inc. is struggling right now having virtually closed down 2 of their four tracks (Memphis and Gateway).
I don't think Bruton wants to cut any other of his tracks down to one date a year in order to get a second Vegas date. I think if he does move an SMI date to get a second Vegas race, he will cut a NH race rather than get rid of Sonoma.
Hopeing he won't dump NH, But I live 15 miles from the track. He has dumped millions in improvents so far and I think NASCAR would want to keep it because it draws from all the Northeast, and Southwest Canada.
I would hate to see any track lose a race because there will be someone like me losing out.
The fair thing would be EVERY tarck has only one date, then there would be plenty of races to go around, but that will never happen.
Rumor or not, if this comes to fruition I am done with NASCAR, with or without Robby. I have been to every NASCAR race there since 1989. It's my home track and I love it. If Infineon is not on the schedule, I have nothing to look forward to except the Daytona 500. I don't care if they move the date around, just as long as they come to Sonoma.
The restrictor plate races, the road course, Richmond, and Bristol are the only races that are watchable on tv. Why not drop one of the two Michigan or Pocono races for the F1 track at Indy? That will never happen because Indy is not a SMI or ISC owned track
