Is Robby Just coasting. Or is the new car going to take some time to get right. I hope we don't have to go through another learning curve! Someone give me something positive on the Toyota.
I am 100% sure that if he doesn't get cought up in the big one that he will be there in the end. He's one of the top points earners at plate tracks over the past few years. I wouldn't be suprised if he didn't finish all that well in the duals thursday. I think he will make a run to the front once or twice, just to show that the car has the power and can "Suck up" the the cars ahead of him. It doesn't matter where he finishes in the dual because we know he's going to the back when the greens drops sunday. The way i see it is no worries here and talladega, i think the real improvement will be seen on the intermediate tracks. It is good that Toyota is in a better financial situation and they hate to not be competitive so i don't think they are affraid to throw money into their programs. We will see shortly! can't wait.
Relax Anything Goes.....Did you really expect Robby to go out and win the pole? You know the car is good and he is going to ride around in the back during the duel so why push the car in a meaningless Qualifying attempt. Lets see how the car looks of Thursday.
I think RG's Toyota will be fine.. much better than he was in the Dodge. Look where Kasey qualified. Look where Kurt did.. the highest Dodge was Reed in 28th place. Biggest factor this year RG will have that he hasn't in years past is Toyota's engineering support.. It's a plate track so qualifing means nothing it's how a car runs in the draft. RG will be fine if he can avoid the "big one".
Don't get over excited, Robby's worrying about the race. Probably has a lot of down force on the car to make it handle. It won't qualify fast but after 20 laps on the tires, Robby will be trucking along just fine. Besides, he usually chills for 450 miles and then makes his move at the end. It worked last year, it'll be fine this year so long as he doesn't get wrecked.
As Robby said last night on the radio..."slow is fast". He is focusing on getting the car to go long without wearing out. Kevin Harvick won that race because he had fresh tires at the right time, which supports this theory.
The cars were squirrely last night, but they will be more stable after they wrench on the cars for a full week...we won't have a lot of late cautions as we see in the shootout....a car that won't wear out will prove good for the team.
