Its never easy... (look whos in the 84 car at Homestead)

"Martin in the #84 at Homestead: Monday [11-10-2008] on “SIRIUS Speedway” on SIRIUS NASCAR Radio, host Dave Moody is reporting that Mark Martin will drive the #84 Red Bull Toyota this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway, replacing Scott Speed. Host, Dave Moody: “Since taking over for the released AJ Allmendinger four races ago, Speed has recorded an average finish of 34.2, including a 40th yesterday in Phoenix. The team has fallen out of the Top-35 in owners’ points now. They now trail the Michael Waltrip Motorsports #47 team by 16 points with one race to go in the battle for that all important 35th position in the owner standings. An official announcement is expected from the team later this afternoon. Mark Martin, of course, enjoys a long relationship with Red Bull Racing general manager Jay Frye, for whom he drove at the former MB3 and Ginn Racing teams. He ran his final scheduled event for Dale Earnhardt, Inc. yesterday in Phoenix. He, of course, will move to Hendrick Motorsports full time in 2009. His arrangement with Red Bull Racing is, we are told, for one race only and will have no impact on the team's long term plans for Scott Speed.(SIRIUS XM Radio PR)(11-10-2008)"

RGM hopefully has their crap together for Homestead. This could get ugly...

They have even started to get there shit together in F1.
Will be even better when they dump DC and move Vettel over to the main team. I just hope they keep Bourdais.
Yea Scott is a liability... only Q'd 2nd! They should Tar and Feather him.

TRB will be a team to be reckoned with in '09.
Yup. Would have been a HUGE threat if they had managed to keep AJA and still bring up Speed for a three car team. But they'll improve next season just like they did this season.
But will Nascar allow it? Remember in the beginning of the year Penske wanted to switch the 77 and 2 and Nascar would not allow it to happen. I think this is a similar situation. Granted one race instead of all season but it is basically the same.
NASCAR did allow the #77 and #2 to "switch" before the season began. After the season started, NASCAR told MWR that they couldn't swap the #44 and #00's Owner Points when Reutimann went from the #00 to the #44 after Dale Jarrett retired. In the case of the Red Bull drivers switching, it sounds to me like Brian Vickers will be driving the #84 Red Bull Toyota and Scott Speed will be driving the #83 Red Bull Toyota. In that case, NASCAR can't say a damn thing about it.
Yup. This has nothing to do with swapping points or anything like that. This is no different than if Jeff Gordon drove the 48 and Jimmie Johnson the 24 for Homestead. Smart move by RBR
