Jan 11th, 2012 Dakar Rally Stage 10 Race Info & Discussion

Join in and discuss all the action from Stage 10 of the 2012 Dakar Rally. Robby Gordon was the WINNER of stage 9 & is only down 5m58s in the overall standings. Nasser Al Attiyah did not finish stage 9, so he is out of the rally. Cars begin stage 10 at 7:44am/et (9:44am local). Raceday chat will be available throughout the entire 2012 Dakar Rally. COURSE OVERVIEW

The drivers will be overcome with even more intense sensations early in the morning. It is precisely at the beginning of the special stage that they will be deeply moved by a spectacular view, combining sand and waves, which continues for several kilometres. The theme will remain constant, since the most experienced experts will be able to surf on the dunes which stretch out for around a hundred kilometres. On the other hand, the difficult fesh-fesh area that will have to be tackled at the end of the special stage will bring everyone back to the tough reality of the long-distance rally.

Well you will all hate me for saying it but the way i see it NASSER cost Robby his Darak overall.

Call it what you want but myself outside of seeing a few good highlights/videos there was nothing else gained but yet a whole lot lost on the deal.

I may get banned from the planet for saying so but that is the way i feal.

It's not over yet. The Minis could still have problems in upcoming stages. Keep steady Robby, make up time when you can, but don't break anything seriously.

How much time lost helping Him?
How many resources lost due to tle late thrash to get team and supplies to Argentina for the 2nd car?
How consertive did they need to be to not run out of parts that Nasser cared nothing about before the 2nd truck could arrive?

As I said this is only my opinion which does not mean much to anyone but me.

I can see where an opinion like that could form. I would however offer it up that in some ways Nasser legitimatized Robby's persistent efforts over the past years at Dakar by bringing some attention to the speed Robby brings to the event. This is the first year Peterhansel has even bothered to look over his shoulder to see which Hummer might be ready to blow his doors off. Now the Frenchman is sleeping fitfully and having nightmares about it.

I do not disagree with this either.
I am just stating it from an overall win perspective.

Robby and RGM planned and prepared all year for a 1 car effort and all that was tossed at the last moment and it hurts to see those efforts gone.

Yes Nasser showed the world that the hummer is a top contender. Yes to an extent I think he showed Robby a few things Not To Do as far as equipment management, which I am sure he will benifit from in the future. At the same time it threw their whole gameplan out the window and that is where my original statement comes from.
