Jan 11th, 2012 Dakar Rally Stage 10 Race Info & Discussion

Join in and discuss all the action from Stage 10 of the 2012 Dakar Rally. Robby Gordon was the WINNER of stage 9 & is only down 5m58s in the overall standings. Nasser Al Attiyah did not finish stage 9, so he is out of the rally. Cars begin stage 10 at 7:44am/et (9:44am local). Raceday chat will be available throughout the entire 2012 Dakar Rally. COURSE OVERVIEW

The drivers will be overcome with even more intense sensations early in the morning. It is precisely at the beginning of the special stage that they will be deeply moved by a spectacular view, combining sand and waves, which continues for several kilometres. The theme will remain constant, since the most experienced experts will be able to surf on the dunes which stretch out for around a hundred kilometres. On the other hand, the difficult fesh-fesh area that will have to be tackled at the end of the special stage will bring everyone back to the tough reality of the long-distance rally.

I don't know if theres corruption or not, but if the cloud of favoratism starts hanging over the head of any sanctioning body it will sooner or later destroy it. Officals of these bodies fail to look at the big picture when making questionable calls that comprimize the outcome of events will only hurt their credability in the long run. Compeditors will cease to participate and the glory days will be in the past.

Unfortunately, that line of reasoning doesn't work if you look at LeMans and the ACO (and FIA.) French teams have always had an advantage...I think they (the ACO) would be happy if "them damned furriners" (or however they might say it) didn't show up and let Peugeot and Pescarolo win every year.

My dislike for the French goes back to my own experiences almost 50 years ago...I was an American in their country and for the most part, they went out of their way to show their displeasure at having non-French on their soil.

Too bad I can't find my "France Stinks" t-shirt. :)

I say we all buy $12.00 vehicles & run the race, At the first bivouac we "accidentally" back into a Mini... Oop's did I do that?
Did my boxcutter bump your whitewalls? Would you like 1 or 2 sugars in your T-ank? This Ice pick is great for clearing fouled radiators, honest...
Then we mount a Freightliner roadblock whenever the parts trucks are rolling. We replace the metric tools with SAE...
