STAGE 9 TRACKING

STAGE 9: CALAMA > IQUIQUE

Connection 29km | Special Stage 422km | Total 451km

COURSE OVERVIEW

The 2014 Dakar will reach its most northern point in Iquique, where the competitors will see the ocean for the first time this year. Above all, the drivers and teams will discover the Atacama Dunes again after a first part of a special stage which will be rather tedious. Dune specialists will be in command over a distance of almost 150km. Thrills will be guaranteed at the very end of the day, on the last three kilometres of the descent to Iquique: there is more than a 30% difference in height from start to finish and it is almost not recommended to break. The law of gravitation takes on its full meaning: the bivouac is not far away!

The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

When they canceled the race was worse. RG really needed to run that one and the hummer was ready for the win that year. all bugs worked out. I feel it was his best chance to date without even starting.

on the liason route to boot!

Central Europe Rally 2008. The overall was there for the taking. Hub failure.

Let's hope the team is able to debreif and document all those minor issues so they are able to take HST to the next level. It appears to be ahead of the H3's development as far as handling the tighter courses that ASO uses to favor the mini 4 wheel drives. Engine coolingtroubles have been improved, but may be vulnerable to damage.

They will. It's not like they ran 40th all day. They were in the top 5 for 95% of the stage.

yup ....
too bad the team could test it longer before THE race .
speed will come even stronger in 15 .

The ASO does't use a tighter course to favor teams, they follow man made roads and washes, which happen to be twisty, for environmental reasons - they are just trying to get from point A to B.

true

As always, looking forward to the post stage video so we get the real story of the day from RG himself.

Hey TOG! Please give all the SUPPORT to Robby, and please say to him that NEVER SURRENDER!!. He's the reason of a huge amount of good moments and Smiles all over the world.

This year is only to reach experience for the next one. Maybe one stage victory is still possible.

Thanks to you too TOG. Good team work

Yes, I thought he would make up more time on this one.
