STAGE 13 TRACKING

STAGE 13: VILLA CARLOS PAZ > ROSARIO

Connection 519km | Special Stage 180km | Total 699km

COURSE OVERVIEW

Aspiring winners will certainly be those who find the 180km of the day’s special section the most difficult, designed with twisty, undulating routes, faster sandy and rocky sections… leading to significant levels of stress. For most of the others, the 699km to be covered before reaching the podium in Rosario will be a relief. To be enjoyed without moderation…

The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

Typical open wheel over-ride. Terrible way to end a race.

Wow, that is scary. I hope they are all ok. It looked as though the Hummer had a decent amount of weight in it from the attitude of the rear suspension, but if you couple that with large tires, heavy vehicle, top heavy, and topography of the accident scene (height of the pavement compared to ditch), unfortunately it is going to roll. If any of the older members remember all of the fuss years ago that the national news did of the CJ-5 Jeep rolling, back in the 80's , when I was in High School I was fortunate for my dad to get me a CJ-7 as a first car. It did not end well for me..... My Mom was convinced it was dangerous , my Dad told her... "No that wont happen"... Anyway, within one year I was driving around 45 mph, had some new BF Goodrich's that were literaly less than one moth old, left rear tire blew, rolled about eight times, thankfully did not hurt myself. Bottom line is when they start to go over it happens so fast. Now I find myself looking for a used Jeep for my son for High School (maybe I am nuts)..... Anyway just my personal story of my roll over, not comparing my incident with this at all, again hope they are ok. Get home safe, Team Gordon

Peterhansel maybe looking at retirement and Toby Price was worried cause that insurance would have prevented him from running as he had broken his neck before the Dakar
"MOTORSPORT: A whole lot more ahead of Price now

Toby Price made history as the first Australian to win the Dakar Rally, still with three rods and eight screws in his upper body.

He's joking but completely accurate when he says: "I've got my head screwed on."

At 28, he has a lot more success ahead of him, provided those rods and screws aren't disturbed.

Stephane Peterhansel has won 12 Dakars now and, at 50, wonders what is left for him to achieve in the toughest motorsport event on earth.

Having added six victories in cars to the six he won on motorcycles, the Frenchman known as "Monsieur Dakar" said: "Getting the same number of victories on a bike and in a car was the last big goal of my career. Now that it's done, I don't think there are many things left to motivate me."

Perhaps a hint at retirement?

"It's too early to think about the future," he said."

Toby Price is a beast! Nice guy too.

That video is beyond the cap off point of everything that happened this year down there....in the Rally .....unreal.

RG girlfriend was inside the H3 too :(

I hope this does not spell the end of Robby and The Dakar. It would be difficult to imagine a more disheartening ending than what's happened now. :(

well the ASO is investigating the accident. probably going to be very severe penalty. I still cannot believe the video, just glad
everyone is ok.

im sure ASO is going to have field day on RG "I told you so" le talk letter will be recieved

very scary. I know folks out there are being judgmental but I would have to believe we've all been in a similar circumstance. Just a bad result and I'm sure everyone at RGM feels crappy about it.

I'd really like to know who got hurt and how bad.

From what I could read one broken leg and one minor head injury but possible c 7 injury, but my Spanish is not very good. Yes we have all probably done similar dumb things, but just glad no major injuries. Bring everyone home a forget Dakar 2016.
