STAGE 13 TRACKING
STAGE 13: VILLA CARLOS PAZ > ROSARIO
Connection 519km | Special Stage 180km | Total 699km
COURSE OVERVIEW
Aspiring winners will certainly be those who find the 180km of the day’s special section the most difficult, designed with twisty, undulating routes, faster sandy and rocky sections… leading to significant levels of stress. For most of the others, the 699km to be covered before reaching the podium in Rosario will be a relief. To be enjoyed without moderation…
The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

It has been an interesting rally to say the least.
Thanks for allowing me hang out with The Planet!
Great Job Robby can't wait to see
you in Parker in 3 weeks
Well, here we are again. At the end of a yearly ritual. The end of DAKAR is always bittersweet for me. Every year we all show up, enjoy some great conversations. Every year, we all dedicate each morning, some real early mornings for us Left coasters, and we show up without fail. People ask me why I do it, I mean, why do I take time out of my busy work and family schedule...Its hard to explain, but its just something we do, and do every year. We live for the drama, the ups and the downs the shoulda coulda and wouldas that is DAKAR. We wouldnt have it any other way.
The end is always bittersweet. DAKAR and the Planet becomes a way of life, a ritual...Like I said, we wake up wide eyed and bushy tailed, open up and enter the Planet, our Planet! Thanks to the team of TOG, MK, and WJM for allowing us a place to hang out and enjoy each others company. Its like our version of walking into CHEERS and hanging out with your best friends to talk about anything and everything RGM. So again, the end is always tough. You wake up the day after the final stage wanting to open up your computer, sign in to the Planet, walk in and say, "PSSssssst, HEY, HEY You, itssss TOOOOLLTIIIMEE!" But its over till next year. So with that in mind, I want to personally say, thank you to all who participate here on the Planet. I feel like if and when I meet up with anyone of you in person,we would have a great time hanging out sharing stories. But it wouldnt be a weird fisrt meeting, no, because after all these years, I feel we all have become friends. So,when that day ever comes, and If anyone ever shows up in Vegas, send me a PM and look me up, the first BEER is on me! Im usually at every tech inspection at every race held in Southern Nevada, and usually go to every race held in our great deserts. Thank you one and all for the fun times and the not so fun times following Team SPEED. I truly miss this time of year and all the fun we have in here. And as always, be safe one and all, and please be kind to one another.
Thank You

Don't cue the crickets just yet. I'm hoping to see some after the rally wrap up news. You just never what's in the hen house till you get the door open and it looks like the Robby Gordon show has plenty to offer in the coming year. However while the folks are still checking in from all over the world.............
Thank you again Planet for all the info & conversation.
Two wild and exciting weeks of Robby's desert storm in Argentina and Bolivia:
Thanks Robby and team for the blood, sweat and tears you devoted to this race!
I feel free to state my humble opinion regarding the development that took place the passed years and that will continue:
When VW dominated the Dakar, it was already a tough battle for a Hummer style race car. The last years the turbocharged MINIs reflect the philosophy of downsized engines with decreased total weight and increased performance. Today the Pugs define the benchmark with about 1400kg and about 340 HP delivered by V6/24V twin turbo diesel engine.
An old design concept in mechanical engineering is "weight is the enemy" especially if you operate a race car at altitudes of 4000m and above. I understand when a driver has a focus on Baja and stadium truck racing, these technical facts play a minor relevance in the agenda. However I suppose that this development has to be taken in consideration if the Gordini wants to play a more dominant role in the 2017 dakar.
a shout out to Bill McPherson for daily update video's, Javier Contreras for photo's, 7gason7 for pic's and rules interpretations ,Gluce for stage updates.
