STAGE 2 TRACKING

STAGE 2: De La Pampa > San Rafael

Connection 487km | Special Stage 290km | Total 777km

COURSE OVERVIEW

The competitors will have an early start and a long way to go to join the start of the special stage. But the pace that the drivers will have to keep up on the first very fast part of the route will immediately ensure that they remain extremely focused. After the big, fast bends negotiated on firm ground, the entrance in a backdrop of dunes will significantly slow down their progress. In Nihuil, the grey-coloured sand bears witness to the intense volcanic activity which occurred in the region several thousand years ago.

Keep it on the road and maintain contact, then kill 'em in the last 30 miles of sand.

If Robby wins stage 2 order him a birthday cake
Aww yeah. I forgot yesterday was his b day.

What is the best place to watch video coverage of the Dakar this year and is there any place to follow it live?

Versus/NBC Sports (they changed the name today) has a 30 minute update every night for the two weeks at 1:30 EST, 10:30 PST. You can catch the Eurovision updates live usually on Justin.tv. They normally show up on the torrent networks a day late or so.

Thanks Kris. I knew about those, just wondering if there was something more detailed and live in the way of coverage this year. I keep waiting for a real 12 or 24hr following of the race, but I guess maybe the Dakar isn't as big in the USA as us off road racers would want it to be. We can't even get real TV coverage of the Baja 500 or 1000, so I'm probably hoping for way to much.

With all the crap reality shows on TV today, you would think that there would be a market for a real, no bullshit balls to the wall type of sport like off road racing. I guess there isn't enough crime or overpaid ignorant athletes for us to keep the average moron tuned in to watch.

Apparently the 'soccer moms' don't want real reality in their TV!

They would rather wath Jersey Shores.
That is far more acceptable that hearing someone slip and put a dammit or shit on the air in a race.

At least the coverage has improved a bit over the last 5 years. I agree with the coverage issue, but when your running a long distance race it is hard to find time to send out updates. The web site gives you checkpoint updates through the run, maybe we need to get teams sponsored by a satellite tracking firm...

good morning glad to see alls good with the 300. Nasser has a problem like that and also ran strong all day and is only 9m back sounds like jimmy jonson luck to me he should feel a lot better this morning.
