Join in and discuss all the action from Stage 4 of the 2012 Dakar Rally. Robby Gordon finished 5th in stage 3 & Nasser Al Attiyah finished 3rd. Al Attiyah begins this stage at 10:33am/et & Gordon starts his at 10:39am/et. Raceday chat will be available throughout the entire 2012 Dakar Rally. Raceday chat now works on the Ipad & Iphone.

COURSE OVERVIEW

The most experienced drivers will be able to enjoy counting the dried-up rivers that they will cross during the day. They will also have time to admire the spectacular canyons of the Province of Rioja, but it is in their best interest to remain extremely vigilant. Nobody will be able to keep up a steady pace during the special stage. Whether it be the navigational subtleties at the end of the route or the small hurdles to overcome, there will be many occasions to lose time here. It is likely that once the rally has reached Chilecito, one or two of the competitors will have already been eliminated from the battle for the title.

A possibility is all the good parts they have on the one truck are going to keep Nasser happy and Nasser is driving the piss out of the hummer because he has nothing to loose.

But on the same note that is his Job.

This is a long race folks. I can remember seeing the overall leader sitting on top of his smoking car with head in hands on day 13. Never give up! Gas always on!

Exactly. The amount Rob is back right now is exactly the amount that Nassir was behind as of Monday morning. What a difference 3 days makes. That being said, damn! Nassir is fast.

just curious Robby chooses his navagtors. We can ' t forget the guy in the second seat.Na ssar has a Dakar winning .navagator . It seems like everyyear its someone new with no Dakar experience navagating. Look where Andy Grider is .

I agree 100%. Find a top flight navigator.

Now that being said, it's no guarantee that they got lost. The guidance for today's special was that the navigation towards the end was really challenging.

Overall I agree with you, the team and the driver are good enough to get a top flight pro-navigator for this event with all of the expense it's not something to cheap out on.

With the way he is loosing groung consistantly I am leaning on today's issues being mechanical.

On a good note he is moving up in the days standings.
Currently 17th on the day at WP 4 of the top 24.

Remember that about two minutes are because Nasser has gained them on the field and not necessarily due to RG losing them!
