STAGE 1 TRACKING

STAGE 1: LIMA > PISCO

Connection 250km | Special Stage 13km | Total 263km

COURSE OVERVIEW

It won’t be long before competitors will be singled out, but for the moment, the mini special stage organised on the outskirts of Pisco will principally be used to divide up the drivers into categories according to their level, who in turn will reassemble during the rally. The initial stage won’t be as stiff as the drink that made the region famous, but the picture postcard landscape is especially appealing. The concentration required over the several timed kilometres will still allow the competitors to admire the scenery. Nevertheless, the light-hearted attitude and relaxed driving style adopted by the competitors during this first day must not mislead them: the Dakar has really begun.

The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

Nasser says : "This is a child. In any case, this is not a normal guy" (Translate with google translate)

I have a very good feeling about this year, can hardly wait till tomarrow!

I didn't (previously) notice that Nasser is sponsored by Toyo....interesting.

Last year the Hummer program ran the crap out of the Toyo tires. Why not. Plus Toyo knows they will get the press out of the sponsorship.

Nasser is fast. He gets exposure. He is a past Dakar champ. Sounds like a solid move by Toyo

Peter and Nasser both respond but not in english

Minis sont pour les filles

Soo How many sets of tires do you think Robby is going to used. Anyone knows ?

I love the ignorance of some of the posts on the Dakar news feed. I'm not sure how they can consider Nasser and Carlos as being 2 of the top 3 favorites this year in never raced before vehicles and Sainz stating how he doesn't have much confidence in the Bugly.

The atmosphere will be even more electric several minutes later as the challengers for the title in the car category arrive, with first the X-Raid team of the title holder, Stephane Peterhansel, followed soon after by Nasser Al-Attiyah and Carlos Sainz, signalling the start of a psychological battle between the main 3 favourites for victory. However, American driver Robby Gordon should not be forgotten: as always, he will be putting on a show in the technical scrutineering tent, perhaps giving rise to the day's biggest contrast, because he will be followed by the much more modest Giniel De Villiers, flag-bearer for the Toyota Overdrive team, the main outsiders of this 35th edition.

Robby have the fastest Car and is perfect for the Peruvian Terrain. The fans on Peru really love him and they will always help him if his is in trouble.. Nasser need to be carefull not to burn the engine like always. This is a long race and hopefully Robby could take all the peruvian stages.

roma will be for sure very present this year .
